Sold the Mustang Yesterday, they take ownership tomorrow (yippee, but really sad as well) I did ALL the upgrades/work on that car myself. I will miss it, BUT Yippee for new prius! Bad thing, it's going to take up to 90 days for it to come in. Dealer cannot find one withing a 1000mile radius in the color (touring) that I want. So we're ordering it from Toyota & it'll be built & sent here. Not looking forward to the no car thing though. Uug. Be driving my beast around tonight for one last crazy spin! I pray it wont take 90 days

Congrats on your purchase, but is color really that important? What if the dealer tells you to wait for some more after that?

Did you check with auto borkers? They will check more dealers. Your dealer probably only checked with the dealers he likes to trade with within 100 miles. Maybe just a couple.

yes, color really is that important to me. I dont like girlie colors (a.k.a, colors) Can't get a black on, hubby has one, so only non-colored color left is grey. Love the grey. He wont make me wait past when mine comes in, we're already bought one from him & can guarantee him 2 more Prius sales. So he's trying to do all he can.

We've also talked to other dealers & an auto broker, nothing in that color around here.

I loved the gray too, and rest assured none were to be found up here in Sacramento either, I found one absolute base model and a package #2 that literally got swiped from underneath me. I understand about the 'colors' thing, but, white is also a shade and not a color. I've found it comes in really handy having a very visible color, people get less freaked out on parking lots as they can see you sooner, cause their not going to hear you ;)

Hang in there. IMO considering the cost, it's worth the wait to get the color you want.

Well at toyota today they said it could take 1.5 months to 90 days. & it could be an 07 or an 08 model. So we'll just have to wait and see. I'm antsy/ecstatic already!!

I don't think I am very pleased to have My Color referred to as a Girlie Color. You know, Arnold got into a lot of hot water for using that word "Girlie" in California. Better be careful!

So my barcelona red 2006 Prius is a "Girlie color"???

I could see the seaside pearl or silver pine mica as being considered 'girlie' by some but the Barcelona Red? No way... its macho red!

When I bought mine I almost settled for a black one, I also had a silver one available. The wife talked me out of it because of the color, so the dealer ordered my magnetic gray, it took a long 11 days back in March. What I did like was I periodically was called by the dealer and was given updates, like about 5 days afterwards he told me that it arrived in port and had been moved to rail. He gave me an expected window of about 3 days, and then he called to tell me that it was going to hit the dealership that day, and scheduled me in first thing in the morning, as there is some dealer prep to take care of when it first arrives.

I agree with your comment because I sorta liked the pine mica (green) until I told my buddy and he told me he thought it looked liked a girls color, so I asked some of the chicks at work and they also agreed. I am so glad I got magnetic gray, and the chicks really dig the color, they all wanna take a ride with me.

I wanted blue, settled for white. I'm glad I got the white. I notice, at near sundown, the blue, black and gray Prius are almost invisible in traffic. Having been nailed by an inattentive driver while riding my bike, I like the visibility of the white, also much cooler in the summer. Good luck on your quest, you have more patience than I do.

Girlie, Girlie, Girlie!!! Nyah nyah nyah! :p

Seriously, however, when I bought my '04 there was a 6 month waiting list - they made me put down a deposit, but I didn't have to leave the trade-in until they delivered the car. I'd check again and see what they can do for you.

Drove by one of the dealers in my area and they had 8 pri' sitting outside on the lot. I dont know if they may have had any sitting in the showroom. They had a gray, 2 black, silver, blue, white, red and a green.
My point being that these cars are available now, of course I know these cars are more popular out west, but they are still shipping them here to OH and 3 weeks ago when I bought my oil filter they had a completely different looking lineup of mostly white ones.

Last week, we bought a girlie seaside pearl with gray interior for my wife. This particular combination wasn't readily available so we're waiting for the ship to come in. The estimate is <30 days from the time of purchase. Color was VERY important to her since she is a fiber artist. She didn't want to live with colors she didn't like. By the way, it is a package # 5.

h2photo - I make the assumption you "SOLD" your Mustang to the DEALER you are buying the Prius from !!

We got a firm price from our Toyota Dealer (in writing) on our trade-in ('03 Acura MDX) and the Dealer and us also knew the particular "girlie" color (Silver Pine Mica) Prius we wanted, Touring with package #5 (gray cloth) was NOT available ANYWHERE.......... we all assumed it too would be up to a 90 day wait.... the Toyota Dealer told us to keep driving the MDX (trade-in) and just TRY to keep the mileage low as possible and not to worry as long as there wasn't any damage or anything major removed, we would still get full trade-in price as quoted. We drove it (very carefully and not long distances) for a little under a month until our Toyota Dealer "found" our Prius coming into port (Jacksonville, Florida) but assigned to another Toyota Dealer in North Carolina, but our Dealer was able to "trade" for THAT particular Prius with something that was "assigned" to him !!
Several years ago, we had another experience of a "trade-in" of sorts (Chevy Malibu) when we bought our new 2003 Acura MDX only this time we were buying the MDX from an authorized Acura Dealer and "trading-in" the Chevy to CarMax just down the road from that Acura Dealer. CarMax evaluates the vehicle they are to "buy" from you but gives only a 15 DAY window in which the transaction must take place or the "re-assessment" and "re-inspection" of the vehicle must be done all over again and perhaps the value may decrease (or even increase due to market demand?). Well the Acura MDX took two months to come in to the Dealer and all that while we drove the Chevy Malibu....... but after that two months we brought it back to CarMax and luckily we got the same "price" we did originally :D !!

There should be NO REASON that you should be WITHOUT a vehicle while waiting for the new Prius to arrive !!
