man this sucks. i feel like i can't trust anyone. i'm going to go back and talk to this customer feedback person with a printout of this whole thread. i'm also going to ask for the oil to be changed to the right viscosity. but i'm worried about backlash. if they know that a customer came back causing all this commotion, will they go in and do something to my car? and how can i be sure that they actually do change the oil to the right one?

this is really frustrating. i do want to thank you all for the feedback though. i'd hate to think of where i'd be without it.

Don't go to North Hollywood Toyota for service. If you are nearby, Longo Toyota in El Monte (605 & 10 fwys) is excellent and always busy. Good luck! VB

Also, go online and sign up for their fliers. Right now they have some decent sales.

    Good luck!

As several people wrote in this thread, there are the Service Dealers that you CAN trust and speak "one-on-one" with and get what you asked for without any "hidden or added charges"............ there are those that just "overcharge and add-on for everything they do", but still do a decent job, then there are those that do sloppy work as well as "overcharging".......... an entire range !! Hopefully you will find the first category I described, speak directly "one-on-one" to the Service Manager who is in charge of "his techs." and you will both KNOW the charges before the actual work is performed, including the correct viscosity and brand of motor oil specified !!

I wish you nothing but GOOD LUCK !!

    *UPDATE*

so i called and talked to the service rep. he said that 5w30 was used and that they have to put 10w30 in the system for accounting purposes. Wth?! he also said ony 3.5 quarts were put in (i mentioned that the prius only needs 3.5) even though it says 4 on the bill. he gave "accounting purposes" as the reason again.

i finally heard from the woman in charge of customer feedback which took a whole 3 days after i left her a long winded message about my concerns and all the comments i was getting here. she claimed she never got it. anyway, she tried to back pedal saying all that service was necessary blah blah blah. it was pretty funny when i told her i went to school with the former owners kids who i guess is still involved in the dealership. her whole tone changed really quickly. she claimed that information about my experience and my concerns would be passed on to the gm and the head of service. she even put a free oil change onto my account to which i replied by saying, "why would i come back to you guys?"

i think she was really trying and i guess someone higher up is supposed to be contacting me. so i'll have to wait and hear what they have to say. will update after that conversation.
