I also bought cheap floor mats at first, but found they didn't cover the whole carpet area, so some of the carpet was getting dirty. So I bought exactmats for the front, rear, and cargo areas. They are nice and look like they came with the car.

Yes, I have those mats too and absolutely love them! Living in the mountains, I replaced the carpeted mats immediately through the dealer when I took delivery. I knew the carpeted mats would simply not live up to New England winters. Anyway, I do like the factory ones with the grooves, they trap the dirt and water. I take them out ocassionally and scrub them and put some treatment on them and they look as good as new.

I have the OEM carpeted mats in a safe location, so that when I sell the vehicle I can swap them back in.

I think Toyota, in part, "borrowed" the idea (dirt and liquid trapping channels) from WeatherTech mats :p !! Regardless, as I said (and you'll agree) the genuine black rubber Toyota floor mats fit PERFECTLY !!!!!!! And the driver's side "clips" keep that mat from "riding up" toward the brake and gas pedals........ something that was quite the frightening experience my Wife had (mat moving up 6"+) with WeatherTechs in her '04 Honda CR-V (now MY vehicle) ..... they NEVER fit "well" in that vehicle .......

:D Ahhhhhhhhh, VERY smart idea, just don't go using them in your home as "Welcome mats" outside the front door ;) !!

we appreciate this opportunity to address your inquiry regarding the care and maintenance of your 2007 Prius.

We do not recommend placing your Prius' carpeted floor mats in an automatic washing machine. Doing so may cause damage or accelerate the wear of the mats.

We recommend thorough vacuuming and cleaning with a foam-type shampoo, as described in Section 6 of the 2007 Prius Owner's Manual.

Uh, wasn't worried about the cheap mats, I wasn't about to put anything in my new samsung washer that would ruin it!

A can of rug shampoo spray, and a stiff brush. Spray it on, brush in the foam, and let them air dry. Good time is whenever you wash the car, or change the oil. I admit, I change the oil more often than washing the car or the mats.

Careful with washing the mats--depending on the size of your washer they can "stick" or you only get half washed.

We burned out a belt in our washer once trying to do car mats. :(
