I just bought a bluetooth phone and was successful in the JBL/ phone connection and was able to make and receive a couple of calls. However, the multi function display screen now shows that the bluetooth battery is not charged. How do I go about correcting this problem? <_< Please help! Thanks.

The MFD functionality of the features like the Bluetooth hands-free system was changed significantly between the '05 and '06 model years, so I may not be much help.

First, a bit of clarification - the Bluetooth connection is not a direct connection to the JBL speakers. It's a connection between the Bluetooth-enabled phone and a Bluetooth receiver inside the car. The receiver then routes the received audio into the car's speaker system (specifically, the driver's-side front speaker) - in your case, the speakers branded by JBL.

The Bluetooth phone battery-charge meter is a new addition to 2006, so I can't offer much advice, other than to make sure your phone is actually fully-charged, and see #2 on page 173 of your Owner's Manual. It says, "The amount left does not always correspond with the one of your cellular phone. This system does not have a charging function."

What's displayed on the MFD in terms of signal level or charge is highly dependent on your particular phone model. Some people see nothing, with no effect on calls.

    True.

I originally had a Moto V505. With that phone, the MFD showed the signal strength meter, but rang with an ugly default tone. I've since switched to a Nokia 6682 and don't get the signal meter, but it uses my ringtones when connected.

Yep, and I have a Moto e815 in my 2005, which shows signal strengh, but when I get an incomming call, the ring is from the phone itself, but from the speakers.

    Thanks for the input!

I bought the new Samsung D807 phone and the initial connection (once I power my baby-a.k.a. GRN-PWR) is successful. However, only 2/10 attempts to place calls are successful and every time I receive a call it doesn't come through the speakers. <_< I first thought that this was correlated with the signal meter, or lack of signal bars and BT battery reading empty on the MFD. What could I be doing wrong? Could it be my new phone??

    Peace,

It could be your instrument. Does it work with a Bluetooth headset? I have a Sony-Ericsson S710a and my first instrument gave me a lousy connection to my Prius. It also gave a lousy connection to a headset, so Cingular swapped it for a new instrument. Now it works fine, though no battery indicator and it's the phone itself that rings.

I bought a Motorola Razor from Verizon recently, and the only problem I have is that the phone (read: Verizon's disabling of the feature) does not suppoty the Bluetooth "Object Push Profile" necessary to upload your phonebook. The battery indicator works fine. Not that I want ALL of my contacts in the Prius, you can only use speed dial while moving.

That was my impression as well; however, the last time that I posted this opinion I was corrected by another poster who claimed that a firmware update has resolved this issue. Not being a Verizon subscriber with a RAZR, I am unable to check it out.

I don't know about a firmware update, but this is what I was told when the Verizon tech suport and the Motorola tech support people were on a conference call with me trying to figure out why my address book would not upload. The motorola people said that Verizon had disabled it, and the Verizon rep said that they had no idea what OPP meant which was why they connected us to Motorola. If a firmware update is available, I'd like to find it.

I'm new here (not even sure if this should be a new topic or reply) I'm just hoping for some help. I have a 2004 Prius with Navigation and had a motorola cingulair phone that worked pretty well with the basics. I forgot to check compatibility when I got a new phone & provider service but went with a 'green' company assuming it would work. I got a Sanyo Katana from Working Assets 'WAWirless' and find out it's not 'compatible'. However if I had the same phone with Sprint it says it would work. Do I have any options other than dropping my service (2 yrs contract)? Anyway to get my service provider and Toyota to shake hands and play nice? Frustrated feeling stuck.

My Sprint Sanyo Katana pairs with my Prius like a match made in heaven. Why do you think that your 'WAWirless' is not compatible? Did you try pairing it or is it based upon something you read? As far as I can tell from reading their website, Working Assets uses the Sprint network and Sprint compatible phones.

I did try to pair my Sanyo Katana with the Prius Nav system but when I got to the passcode 1212 I wasn't sure where to type it into the phone, when I dialed it ..it told me the number could not be completed as dialed., I tried to find an appropriate place to enter it but failed, it would be great if I could figure out how to enter the pass code into the Katana so the Prius could find it. I used the 'pairing' selection on the Katana but it couldn't pair with the Prius. I saw in the Prius data base that if I had Sprint service it would be compatible but unless I'm just not entering my passcode in the right place WAWireless isn't the same as Sprint. Let me know if there is a special place to enter the passcode on my Katana, please.

Thanks for the info! I was able to get both my phone and my wife's paired with the Prius, I tried to transfer phone books which didn't work, then I tried calling both phones from their alternate (they have different numbers) but the Navigation phone on the Prius didn't connect. The phones rang for each other, so I must still be missing a step. I tried a few things to select a phone in the Prius but it didn't do the trick. But I'm a few big steps closer and I really appreciate the help. If you have any ideas about my missing steps I'd sure appreciate the help. Thanks again!

Remember that the Prius will only communicate with the selected device. This is usually the last phone paired unless you manually go in and select the other. My wife & I have identical Treos and her's is the selected phone. An incoming call to my phone will not transfer to the Prius. If I manually change this on the Prius and select my phone, then calls to her phone do not transfer. You indicate that the phones are paired with the Prius. If you call out on either phone does the call transfer to the Prius speakers/MFD? Does the MFD indicate a successful bluetooth connection shortly after you start the Prius?

Yes, I found that I needed to select the phone I wanted as a 'default' phone, but one problem when I was trying to call the other phone and not making any connections yesterday might have been that I just needed to turn off the Prius, because when I got in today it showed 'blue tooth was sucessfully conected' and when I tried making a call it worked to the point I could hear the number dialed's phone ring. I'm very happy. I really appriciate the help I found here! I still have to work on getting the phone book into the Prius but that is a minor problem at this point. Thanks very much
