Hey everyone, after noticing the "quality" of the factory tires and reading several of the threads related to tires I decided to go shopping now for new ones instead of waiting. Anyhow, I called a few places locally and was priced around $450+ (varying upon the brand I asked for) and was only offered (at best) $20 on trade-in on the Integrities (factory). I then called the dealership and they wanted around $370 for new tires -and told the charge for bringing my own for them to mount would be $48 (I was considering this because some of the places I called either had no experience with dealing with the tire pressure sensor or did, but they admitted that many / some of them tend to break even with the best of care <_< ) but didn't really seem willing to give me anything for a trade-in on the Integrities. Luckily I happened to call Hamad Tire (a local place) and they were very honest with me. They said that the Gemini Goodyear in town was corporate owned not only were they trained and experienced with dealing with the tire sensors, they also would be likely to give me a full value trade-in for the Integrities. So, I called them and spoke to the manager, Pete, who said that everything I was told was correct. They had lots of training and experience dealing with the sensor and they were willing to give me full value for the Integrities (they valued them for $73.95 each) as long as I had under 500 miles on them and was willing to upgrade to other Goodyear tires. So, I would only have to pay the difference in the tire value in the upgrade of the new ones and the labor and tax. That's it. -Now only that, they could also do them the day I called, so no waiting. As you can imagine, the choice was an easy one to make. I had only around 230 miles on my Prius since I'd only just recently gotten it and I decided to go with the ComforTreds (valued at $97.95 ea.) since so many here seemed to like them (I initially wanted the Triple Treds, but they don't come in the Prius size). So, when all was said and done, for four new ComforTreds with labor and tax just cost me about $170!! -I say about because I also Road Hazard Protection Plan (which still only came to $228 with everything). So, I thought some other newbies would also like to know this....find a corporate-owned Goodyear and they man also cut you the same deal!!! It sure beats waiting and paying around $400-$500 after the 500 miles!

That's great to know! It would have been better to know 400 miles ago (I think I'm up to 900 miles), but I'm sure someone will benefit.

Called the local Gemini, and they say they do not take trade in, but ask me to call again on Monday, I am at 400 miles and each day I drive atleast 120 miles, meaning I will pass 500 mark if I go to work today.

I was told by my local shops that there is not a tire worth upgrading to from stock on my 07 touring ed.

:( Maybe there is another Gemini shop you could try close to where you work at. Even if they're only willing to give you $20 on a trade-in, that's better than nothing. Good Luck!!

Called another Gemini close to where I work, and they say they can do it but still need to look at the tires first, and ask me to bring in the car. So I went and they say they have no idea and the Comfortred not even in stock and ask me to come again on Monday, well I am already at 460 mark, this is the California culture, not as nice as other part of the county, they screw you whenever they can. I think I need to deal with it and wait till the Integrity wears out, which at the moment I feels they are just fine.

    Thanks for the tips tho.

I am looking to buy a prius, but I want it with leather. My dealer told me the touring does not come with leather. Do you know?

So what is the tire of choice. Has anybody looked at the impact on mpg etc.?
