    Date Ordered: 5/28/2004
Dealer Ordered From (Incl. City/State): Toyota 101 (redwood city, CA)
Timeframe given for delivery: 3-4 months
    Color: Silver
    Option Package: #9
    Deposit: $500.00
Waiting List #: Don't know. "a watched pot never boils". Besides, if it's a high number, I'd rather not know.

Purchased my original 2001 prius from the same dealer & salesman. (Gene Davenport). For the 2001, he said "4 months", and it showed up in 3....

For this purchase, he said 3/4 months again... When I put down the deposit, I asked him about "what packages are getting delivered, and he said #9s usually. So, that's what I told him to order. I really just want a #7, but figure with a #9, resale will be easier, and I'll be able to sell it for more.

I also put down a deposit on a hylander...$1000.00. (4 wheel dr, 3rd row seat, "ltd editiion"...

Just got a hand written note from Gene (salesrep). Stating "thanks for being patient, wait is going to be longer". But no real #s/dates.

I figured as much from what I've seen here, and online elsewhere. (aka production isn't enough to meet demand)

The longer the wait, the sweater the reward? I wonder if I'll get the highlander first.... If so, that hoses my whole payment planning. I guess the baby won't be going to college. I hear the "school of hard knocks" is always looking for new pupils.

    doh.

got a post card from Gene @ toyota101. Says "be patient"...?

I've got to take the 2001 in for the battery service recall. I'm going to try to get some more info on what's going on then.

    The clock is still running...

    Ed,

Gee, at least you get postcards! I don't really understand why it's not possible to see what place we're on on the waitlist. I signed up for a Silver AM on May 08, 2004, and so far all I've gotten is one phone call from Terry Chavez of Toyota 101 with a fairly non-commital announcement that they weren't sure when it was going to come in. In four more days, it will be my 5th month on the waitlist. I really got sucked in back in May when he made it sound like "4 months" was the upper limit of what I would have to wait, with the possibility that he'd call me if somebody else passed it up in front of me. Well, doesn't look like that's happening...

    NiftyKen,

I called friday (10/8), and people who put in orders on May 17th are in on the next allocation (Oct 18th?). They said they should be getting in 20 cars. (last time I checked, before the "new bigger allocations") they were getting between 7 & 13 cars on average.

You can usually watch what's coming in @
    http://www.toyota101.com/New-Inventory.aspx
(but you probably already knew that)

I usually check that link twice a day as I seem to have some obsessive compulsive tendencies.

If PRIUS is available in the drop down list, that means they have a shipment that's in. Though those cars are already allocated. At least you can see what's coming in and going out.

The guy mentioned, that with a may 31rst (that's my real date, as I forgot which day I placed the order), I should get a car around mid November. So you should be really soon if you've already waited 5 months.
    .

so there is hope... You might want to check with Putnam Toyota in burlingame as well. Contact:

    Chris Reade
    e-mail: [email protected]
    Phone: (650) 340-1967 Direct

He may be able to help? He sent me an email about 3 coming in with LEATHER that were abandoned...I didn't want to pay and extra 3,000. So I passed. Though he is saying if I were to get on his list, it would be a 4 month wait from now...

    Awesome! Congrats on the auto!

I'm a little disappointed, as it seems they aren't as diligent updating their site with the new inventory anymore (at least prius'). I never saw this allocation get up there. Seeing cars come in and go out makes the wait less painful. Probably not worth it to them to put the cars up there as they're gone in a matter of days anyway..

Enjoy. Hopefully I'll have mine soon.

Current wait 136 days and counting... (yikes, it's been a while)

If it shows up early december (my guess), the wait will have been 180 days.

Yeah, the rep claimed that they're getting 25+ Prius' a month now. I might have misheard, but I think he claimed 40+! Good luck!

Got a letter from Gene. My car is on the way. I think from this point, it's 3 more weeks?

    So, it'll be around thanksgiving.

Depends... did he say where the car was in the transit process (ie, on the boat)? He should know when the boat is supposed to arrive in port. For those of us in the middle of the country/east coast, it's another few weeks after they boat arrives, but since you're on the west coast, it might not be too long after that.

I'm not sure. Here is what he wrote

" your prius is on the way in the delivery pipeline "

I like the surprise though. We shall see. I've got to go to florida next week, so I won't really be thinking about the car anyway.

Got the call from Gene. It will be at the dealership either tonight or tomorrow night. So, I will have the car, probably wednesday.

The original letter I got from him was post marked Nov 5th, and the car will get there on the 20th or 21rst. So, 2 weeks after being notified.

    Woo Hoo.

I picked up the car 11/22. It's great. It seems huge compared to the 2001 we have.

My only complaint is that getting the phone book entries into the system is one at a time. I think that this is the problem of the V600, not the car. Also, it would be neat if you could upload your calendar into the system as well.

I'll be going with Priuschat prepaid service & extendend warranty. Thanks goes out to Danny & Troy for saving me some big bucks.

I asked my saleman to mail me info on the hybrid highlander
