I saw "green" yesterday. Why?

OK, my car is new, I have little "direct" experience. What I've seen, with my driving style, is the SOC graph stays about 3 bars down from "full" and is blue. I can see it get about 1/2 way down under certain conditions (still blue), but until last night I never got less than 3 bars down. Had two passengers in the car last night, and got one bar down and green. Just coincidence, or did the extra weight add additional regenerative energy and get me "up there"?

Oh, and no, I'm not worried about it, just wondering.

Temperature and driving conditions will shift the SOC up or down. It's hard to say without more information.

You may be on to something, David. I recently hauled 10 bags of bark mulch and noticed I got a green battery fairly easily. But I live at the bottom of a long hill and get a green battery fairly often.

I don't think extra weight helps. I run in the green quite a bit.

heh. First of all, the way you count the battery is a bit confusing hehe... anyway, "1 down" would be 7 bars. "2 bars down" is 6 bars.

I usually get the opposite of what you've posted. If I have more passengers, then my battery goes down more because the battery has to supplement the engine for more power (but then again, Vancouver is waaay more hilly than Edmonton).

I get green bars every day. Could be because I usually drive alone, and I only weigh 120 pounds.

I have never gotten green bars. When I get down to one bar it turns purple. Now thats weird. Most of the time they are blue.

we get green quite often, but then we have a couple on nice looooooooooooong downhills whenever we leave the high desert (which means we have to climb those loooooooooooooog hills to get back home!)
