So I was just on Apple's website and their newest release of Safari (Apple's web browser) is now Windows capatible. I have both a Mac and a PC currently and I just downloaded Safari on my PC. It runs very well so far and it looks just like I am on my Mac.

A glorious illusion for those of us that know the elegance of Apple products.

Download a copy of it for yourself, it was just released today!

Maybe now web developers will start taking Safari compatibility more seriously.

I agree, I also noticed how in Safari in the search toolbar in the top right corner your options that come with the software are either Google or Yahoo!, the must have "forgotten" about LiveSearch from microsoft! haha.

In all seriousness though, I like to see Apple do well. I believe they have much nicer products.

Is there anything that safari can do that firefox can't. I'm a hard core apple user, but safari is not my cup of tea. Firefox for me only.

I don't think so... For the most part I think Safari and Firefox are equals, except as stated by Apple, Safari is a touch faster in loading html, java, and apps than Firefox.

It's more of a "visual" update for me. I like the Mac/Apple "feel" so I enjoy it on my PC! :)

I use Safari on my Mac, but there is no flashblock plugin that I know of, which I can enjoy when using firefox. And often I think Firefox seems faster than Safari. I think we're in for some good old competition on this one. Remember back in 1999 when Microsoft thought they had Netscape beat to a pulp? Well, they did, but thank god we're not there anymore!

Count me as another Mac/PC user who is sticking with Safari for the Mac and Firefox for Windows.

    Yippie!
Now I can have Safari as my backup browser rather than IE.

. . . even if Safari is still in Beta testing, I'm game. :)

And since we are on the subject of beta software . . . Firefox 3 may be going beta next month.

Remember this is "Safari 3" this is an UPDATED safari release.

It is not the old safari now on windows. So it will perform differently than your older versions of safari and firefox2. It has been developed for Tiger, Leopard, XP and Vista.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "flashblock" but it is advertised newly as "opened" so. I haven't had any compatability issues running anything in it so far... flash, java, etc...

I did this as well! It's great!

Now VISTA looks more and more like Apple OS all the time.

It's so awesome to use my favorite browser at work now on a PC. Just from using it the last hour or so - it's so much quicker than Firefox, it also looks loads cleaner and crisper.
