Good to know that replacement batteries exist on the wholesale market. This battery on eBay was in a wrecked prius :( and look at the edge of it, it is damaged. Must have been a bad wreck.

Have a look - there are good photos of what the battery looks like.

i think this is a very bad idea, any damage is plenty...besides the obvious of a short, the acid inside those cells is very corosive... Looks like the damage is on the battery ecu and SMR side, if one of those is damaged they would need to be replaced, and you don't want to have to do that. It is very very dangerous to have that cover off, and i hope they are taking the precautions.. I reseal those batteries almost one a day for SSC 40g, and i have tremendous respect for them.. I wouldn't buy a wrecked battery, and i definitly wouldn't reccomend taking one apart.

well the seller is being realistic about it, gives fair warning that any work should be done by a professional, and gives a 60 day money back guarantee if the battery fails.

the return policy is unrealistic. i'd rather require the seller to have a qualified tech certify the battery pack.
if he is looking to sell it to someone who needs the pack right away, Toyota will void the warantee on the car.

the only problem would be keeping and monitoring a charge on the pack until its ready to be used since the pack has already been charged. idle batteries nearly always have a shorter life than batteries that are properly monitored and charged like an in-car battery pack would be.

i think he might be better off to try to sell the pack back to Toyota.
