Just got her Prius back from the tint shop. We did just the rear windows (except small hatch window) with 35% tint, which is what is legal in VA.

That looks great! I wouldn't mind having both my front, rear and back window done that dark...

Just got mine a couple of days ago.. 20% all the way around except the driver/passanger windows which are 35%.. I think I got that right. It is not legal in IL for the fronts, but as long as your not driving like an A*^&, they don't bother you. I hope  I also got the top of the windshield done.. love the way it looks..

These are off my camera phone.. quality is not great. I'll repost when I get some high res images..

I wondered what a Seaside Pearl Prius would look like with tinting.

Here's mine with 20 percent all the way around. Not completely legal, but in Florida as long as it's not lowered and have 20 inch wheels the cops don't mess with you (most the police cars have this or darker on them anyway).

One of the first things I did was get tinted...I think it's 20 or 25% all the way around....like others, it's not technically legal, but I've never gotten a second look from a cop, got pulled over at a check point the other day, and they just won't bug you about it unless you're being stupid.

OK..I'm convinced to go ahead and tint..especially with the heat today on North Carolina. Can anyone recommend a few key questions/ issues I should be certain to clarify when I go around finding a place to do the work? I've already determined the max tint permitted in NC from a link someone on this forum provided. Sounds like approx cost should be aobut $200 or so. Any other advice is appreciated.

Here's my '07 with 15% all around. Well, he called his shades 15% and 30%, however I have always thought that the 2 shades were 20% and 35%. I imagine his 15% is just like most others 20%.

Anyway... $200 is pretty average. The ability for the dark tint to keep the heat and sun out is incredible. We live in Florida and find no need to use a sunshade in the front windows and there is no glare at all on the MFD, which can be a big problem in these cars without tint. We had the tint done the next morning after I picked up the car.

The only other thing I remember from reading here is : If they use a heat gun to dry the film make sure they don't burn or gloss the black trim in the middle of the doors (pillar) I heard it gives it a sheen if heated up too much . Might want to take a few pics before tint is done incase of any damage to prove it was not like that prior.

Well despite the warnings, the heat gun did slightly bring a shine to a few small areas on my black trim pieces between front/back windows. The job looks otherwise terrific 35% all the way around. The guy didn't hesitate to confirm it looked like his heat gun did it and told me to bring it over to Toyota dealer and he'd take care of it. He's very highly recommended and used by the dealer frequently..never had this happen, but only the second Prius he's done. It's really a very small area on both front doors, but the car's only 4 weeks old so I'm going ahead and having it fixed at the tint guy's expense.

Another issue...the guy encouraged me to put a 5" strip along the top of the windshield (all that's allowed according to him in NC) and I don't think I can get used to the very obvious line where it ends. Kinda like when you know there's a spot on your tie, it's all you see whenever you look at it. I see other cars with a gradiant rather than the abrupt edge I have. I assume I can have it removed, but is there another solution?

...and freshly home from the tint shop is our Barcelona Red!

5% on rear side & back windows, 30% on front side windows. They also did something to the section below the spoiler to make it match the rest of the rear but did not denote the percentage.

I'm happy to say we have no melted molding!

And just for regional comparison's sake, it was $210.

After spending the weekend in Palm Springs, pre-tint, I'm thrilled to have darker windows.

And what did you do with your front windshield? As you can tell from my post, it's apparently a problem in NC. I'm going tio have this 5" strip removed

My first mod was 42/40 psi.
Second, get the windows tinted. Especialy black!!
Got the backs tinted "dark" and the fronts "medium". I did the medium to help with the night driving.
I also got the windshield strip done. I love it. It does not bother me since I'm looking down the road. It does help a lot.
