I am having trouble getting a #6 in white, mica or red with the bisque interior this late in the model year. Does anyone know when the 08's will be takeing pre-orders or when the car will be available.

The dealer I talked to before I found mine told me they were so far behind on 07 orders that they won't be starting on 08 for a while. Dealers are still ordering 07, you might be able to get a dealer to order you one, if you are willing to wait for it. I didn't have the luxury of waiting so I had to settle for a different color than what I really wanted. Finding the package #6 is hard. Search the southeast region, like around Tampa Fl and they might have something coming in next week you are looking for. I do know they are getting a shipment.

<strike> I'm not sure that this forum is a good place to get an answer for this sort of question. You might try the main forum. This forum is for news articles related to hybrids or the Prius.

    </strike>Well, now I'm embarassed. Apparently I don't know where I am.<strike>

That shows a footnote that all dates are estimates. Someone else stated that they are extending 2007 time frame

    I think you're right.
If a dealer knew they could get any 2007 Prius, they do receive the 2007 orders.

I don't know if it's just this region but it is now impossible to find a package 5 or 6. They were all bought up in a flurry of activity in the last two weeks. One dealer here says they only have one coming in (crappy pearl color) and they can't order any more. My area is served by the gulf coast toyota disty in Houston, but I don't know how they figure into things really.

At this point in time the Port is throwing on all the options.... $699 ToyoGuard Plus Package as well as $209 Rubber floor & trunk Mats, total $908 (plus tax). Some even have splashguards (mudguards) installed at the port too.
If you indeed wait for 2008, it's a sure bet that anything coming to port (ordered) can be had WITHOUT any of the overpriced, port installed options. It ain't so bad to wait.........
Just ORDER AN '08 NOW !! Get the exact color, package, options YOU want and need !! Time passes quickly.... it'll be here before you think !! DO IT !!!!!!!!!
(and what'll you know... the '08's might have adjustable height driver's seat ????????)

Really!! I got mine in white on the 13th. Evidently the dealer wasn't BSing me by saying the Prius equipt this way is getting harder to get. By the way, mine came out of San Francisco.

Well we just ordered a red touring HI package today. I should have a delivery estimate tomorrow. I'm curious if it will be an '08 or '07. As long as I beat the 9/30 deadline for my tax credit, I'm happy.

You should hope for a 2007, since the cars will be identical.

If you get a 2008 Prius in 2007, you'll have a full year's more mileage on it when it's time to sell the car or trade it in at the end of ownership. If you get a 2007 Prius at the end of 2007, you'll have a full year's less mileage on it.

Yep, I understand both angles. Quite frankly, I think it will be 6 one way, half-dozen the other. Late model higher mileage vs. early model less mileage. Probably break even.

I'm hoping we get the good ol' annual Toyota-thon blow-out deal coming out right about delivery time.

I would say the former is the best option...at least that my opinion. The your 2008 will be one year newer than the 07 when it comes time to trade it in...although with the 2008 being the last of this body style I would say it pretty much doesn't matter since the 2009 will drop the value of the previous body.

    my thoughts

The "year" of the car has nothing to do with the length of the warranty. The "date of purchase" is used for calculating the warranty length. OTOH, 2008 will get you a bit more money at trade-in.

A local dealer emailed me that they expect to see 2008 Prius models early in Sept. Quality of data: Who knows?
