Took our first long road trip with new 2007 Prius fresh from the showroom floor. Went from East Texas to Kansas City, Kansas City to Denver, and returned Denver to East Texas for a total of about 2500 miles.

Mileage going to KC was about 49 MPG while primarily cruising at 65 to 70 MPH. Leg from KC to Denver was into a stiff headwind most of the way (and uphill, of course!) and mileage only dropped off to about 47 MPG while cruising at 70 to 75 MPH most of the time. On the return leg to East Texas, driving primarily on secondary roads rather than Interstates, we averaged about 50 MPG with cruising mostly in 65 to 70 MPH range.

We haven't had a lot of in town driving yet on this great little car, but what we have done (understanding that there are NO short trips in Texas) we have gotten a bit over 50 MPG.

    :)

Sounds like you are doing fairly well to me. I have an 05 (about 4 months) was getting about 44. Read on the forum to run 42 and 40 psi in tires and my milage is now 49.5. Noticed that during warm up the milage would drop during first 2 to 3 min and I would have to work hard to get it back up. I started turning off the ac during warm up and my gas milage remains fairly constant during the first 5 min of driving in the morning. Took a trip from Raleigh to Greensboro and back (120 mi) and averaged 52 mpg which is slightly better than epa. I set cruise on 65 and relaxed. Everyone on the highway passed me, but I enjoyed my casual pace. The Prius seem to mellow you out a bit and makes you want to get great milage vs getting their fast. This is great for me. My wife has a new 07 and she drives it like she drive her suv and is getting 45 vs 19 average in her highlander. No matter how you drive a Prius, it's still better than anything else. Peace.
