I'm just curious. As I approach my 1 year anniversary with my Prius I've noticed on the forums a marked decline in the number of "I've been waiting XXX days" posts. It seems that the backlog is finally easing up and the wait is down to just a couple of months in most areas.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone here who's been waiting for more than 2-3 months. And, if so, is it b/c there have been no cars at all available or b/c you want an exact package, color, price, etc....

I realize this is completely non-scientific, but for the sake of discussions with others I'd just be curious.

Please tell us 1)where you live, 2)how long you've been waiting, 3)what package/color(s) you're waiting for, and 4)How much longer you've been told to expect to wait. Any additional info (like 'dealer's been selling at over MSRP and I'm on the wait list for one at MSRP, or how many wait lists you're on, or whatever) would be great too.

    I've been waiting since March 20 2004
I was offered a Prius last week, but was one of the two colors I would not
take, those being Black and White. I was offered a Driftwood #5 also
but declined. I want a tideland but will also take a seaside, silver,or salsa.
I'll take a #5 or #6 but really want one of those colors.
I figure I've waited this long and I'm now at the top of the list ,I'll hold
out a bit longer for what I want.
I'm paying MSRP. I'm in Orlando. When I first ordered I was told 18-20 weeks. Since I'm also shelling out $10,000 for a new roof because of the 3
hurricanes I'll be holding on to the savings account money for a bit longer.
I'm hoping my car will be in the next allocation.

    Waiting since 5/31/2004.

Last check, I should be very close. People from May 17th were marked for the Oct 18th allocation. November or December is when I'm guessing I'll see the auto.

Redwood City, CA is where I placed my order.

I placed my order on July 9th with Beaman Toyota in Nashville for MSRP (I'm outside of Chicago myself.) Was told anywhere from 12-20 weeks, basically early October to end of November. Actually called today on it, I was told mid to late November is probably when I will get the car. I'm kinda strict, I want a BC/#6 for sure, and would originally take a Seaside, Tideland, or Silver, but now I think I would only take a Tideland. I had a '04 Seaside BC offered to me in early September, couldn't take it because I couldn't get out there soon enough to, so maybe I'm getting punished.
I know others have been waiting longer, but I think my car is getting ready to die, which is why I'm so anxious to get it. I am going to replace the ECU for it this week, as I think that is the problem, and anyone that knows cars knows how much I will have to dump into that (I am going to try to replace it myself, but I have to buy it.)

    Greetings from San Antonio,
My wife and I placed our order for a White, package #5 on May 11th. At the time of our order, we were told we were about #80 on the waiting list, with an estimated 8 months to a year before receiving our Prius. Not sure of our current position on the list, but we've just celebrated our 5 month of anticipation. We were quoted MSRP with some adjustment for the 05 model. Also, we are only on one waiting list

Thankfully, Prius sites like this one and others, especially John1701a, have made the interval an educational one. And of course, we still get very excited when we spot a Prius along our travels. Saw a Silver and a Blue 04 this weekend. Always a great day when you see a Prius!

Hopefully, we'll get to change our signature line before too much longer.
So, 5 months down. Not sure how much to go.

Yes, it will be worth the wait. :D

I ordered my silver #9 in March of this year and I haven't heard anything yet. I did get my keychain in the mail a few weeks ago and a 'thanks for waiting' form letter from Toyota, but that's it. Frankly, since winter and tax season are both approaching, I'd just as soon wait until spring. At this rate I should order a Lexus 400h so I have it by next fall

I live in Chicago, ordered March 8 from Libertyville Toyota--holding out for Black #6 package (was #9). $500 deposit, written agreement for MSRP. Called the dealer a few weeks ago, thought I should get the car late Nov/early Dec. Dealer did call about a month ago, offered 2004 Driftwood #9, but I turned it down.

[font=Arial:b317611c17]Greetings! I'm a new poster here, and I want to thank all of you for convincing me to take the plunge and get a Prius! I finally got the loan on my current car to the point where I can break even when I sell it, so now I can start looking for a "real" car ;) [/font:b317611c17]

I found a dealer in my area that doesn't take a deposit to be added to a waiting list...instead, they take your name, and when a shipment arrives they call everyone on the list - the first person who shows up gets the car. Does this seem kind of odd? I think I remember reading a post somewhere that mentioned another dealer following this procedure. I wonder why they do that? From my perspective, it may work out for me because I only work 5 minutes away and could skedaddle over pretty quickly - unless I'm number 327 on their call list, that is!

It just seems there could be a lot of angry people who have dropped everything and ran to the dealer, only to be beaten by someone who had the good fortune to be working nearby.

    Any thoughts?

We put our name on the list at Freeman Toyota in Fort Worth, TX at the end of May. We were told 4-6 months. They are selling at MSRP and required a $500 deposit that would not be cashed. We want a BC with leather and don't want Salsa or Black. We received a call at the beginning of October, but didn't get the message until the end of the day and missed out on a white BC without leather. They won't give us a position on the list, but told us at the beginning of October that we had 2-2.5 months more. We received our key ring in June and have received numerous letters saying we are still in the system and have not been forgotten. We also have our name on a less formal Hybrid Highlander list.

Funny you should ask. I just heard from my dealer that there is a blue AM Prius with my name on it on a boat somewhere in the Pacific. It should arrive in NH some time in the first part of November. It is my first choice for color and package.

I got on their list in early July so that will be about 4 months total. He says that the cars are coming in faster now and that their waiting list is about 2 1/2 months long now.

I picked up my 04 BC in Madison, WI, in August at MSRP after a 5 1/2 month wait. There were two people ahead of me who declined this particular car.

At the time of pick-up, the expected wait was up to 11 months.

Well, on the possible-good-news front for y'all: around Seattle, Portland, and in between, it sure seems like I'm seeing a lot more Prii on the streets in the last month than in the months before. And when I drove down to Portland last Friday to pick up my pretty black 2005, there was a truck with about 8 Prii on it going the other way... guess somebody's boat came in. :)

I have been waiting since the 14th of April for a BC any color. I was offered one last week but not the package I wanted. The salesman said it wouldn't be much longer. Oh!! Well!! such is life.

New here; thanks for sharing all the great info. Been waiting in the Denver area for about five months for Salsa Red AM (since May 22). Might call this week and add Seaside and black as other color options....

I have been waiting since about May 1, 04. Ordered a BC in Silver, Salsa, or Seaside. I am at #3 on the list. Should pick mine up around the end of November. Dealer is Alderman Toyota in Rutland VT. I was offered a Driftwood AM last week but declined. I have been checking the list and have been moving up steadily.

    1)where you live: Los Angeles

2)how long you've been waiting: 5 months tomorrow (Ordered 5/19). Have been offered several colors I don't like. Could have had one in 7 weeks but didn't want silver.

3)what package/color(s) you're waiting for: Seaside BC. (2nd color choice. 1st was Tideland)

4)How much longer you've been told to expect to wait: It's been allocated and should be at the dealer within days.

Dealer: Michael Automotive (Fresno) has been great. Paying MSRP + mats + bumper thing + glass sensor + cargo net.

I assure you I am not here to gloat and have great sympathy for those on those long waiting lists ... I do wonder why?
Is there a different quota formulae for the US and Canada?
It was less than 3 months from ordering for us to pick up our 2005 Prius having the exact colour, option package and at MSRP plus cost of option selected.
I am not normally a skeptical person but is it possible that some unscrupulous dealers are ordering a batch of vehicles of various colours, option packages and on arrival sell to the highest offer before dealing with a few of those of you on the waiting list?
Probably there is no accurate method of determining this possibility but those waiting periods seem a little questionable.
I apologize that my post does not actually answer the questions of the original post and perhaps should be presented as a separate topic but I feel that here at least I might find a possible answer.
