Is this a good deal?

    I briefly test drove today a 1996 Prius (Package #6) with 10,820 miles. It is at a Toyota dealership listed for $21,988. I've checked out Kelly's and Edmunds; overall, is this a great deal or is there room for negotiation?

    Also, what protection/assurance does a Certified status have? This vehicle currently is not noted as having this; should I push for that certification during negotiations?

    Tomorrow I am going for a second test drive. Any feedback would be appreciated.

    don't know if they are required to disclose this to you, but it does appear they have discounted the car to reflect its history. the big question is what is the car really worth given its history AND is there any long term uncorrected damage to the car.

    you should consider for another $6k or so more do you find a new '07 pkg 6??

    btw, you weren't gullible. you did check the facts before buying.

    I had a Camry many years ago that I discovered too late had been "salvaged". Now, when looking for cars, I get a monthly subscription to Carfax and use it thoroughly. Worth every penny and has kept me from some bad decisions. B)
