    Hi Priusim,

Here is my new Barcelona Red Package #2, after its first drive home (in the rain!). :D [attachmentid=8864]

I got it at Marietta Totota in Atlanta.
I shopped around, mostly trying to get quotes by email, and this was the best one. Dealer Glenda White was nice and attentive, but kept me guessing on when it would be delivered. In the end, it was two weeks between the deposit and the delivery.

    Here's the numbers:

    $21,990
    $595 delivery
    $395 Admin fee
$1608 sales tax (Dekalb county, 7%)
    $18 title fee
    $3 Lemon law fee

    $24,609 out the door

I tried to charge it to my AmEx to get Delta skymiles, but they would only go for $3000 of that. So the rest was a check. That made it simple, and there were no surprises on signing the paperwork.

I am really enjoying the car, and surprised how zippy it is, after all the "well don't expect a performance car here" stuff I have read. It is at least as zippy as my Rav4. After about 60 miles I am averaging about 48 mpg, with no attempt to conserve gas.

Question: What is N for? Why would you ever shift into neutral?

    -Steve

Thanks to NYTIMEZ, who posted he got his car for 22,300, I went and pulled my deposit that I had for a Long Island dealership to look for when, I signed at 22,995.

Last weekend I happened to be upstate and they had a number of prius all different colors and packages on their lot. I bought it on the spot, it was a little bit of a struggle, but I did indeed get the price of 22,300+taxes+tags.

I pais $700 less for the car, I flew up 2 days later for $100 and drove the car home. $600 less in the long run, that is a substantial difference for my pocketbook.

I just purchased my 2007 Prius w/ Pkg#2. My out the door price was 24,200. Then I added on the 6year 100k warranty and GAP insurance which then boosted the out the door price to around 26,500. I think I got the last Prius available in SE Michigan. The dealers here are now starting to sell them at sticker price and not give any deals out.

You might poke about this site a little more... under Prius Accessories, you can purchase the Toyota extended warranty for $990... we went back to our dealer and cancelled the pricey, 3rd-party warranty that they <strike>ripped us off for</strike> sold us.

    Saved us about $1200.

Nice picture. The only time I know of that you should use N is going through a carwash.

Also, when being towed -- but I don't think you can shift to N if the car doesn't start -- ?

    No extras.

$25,450 out the door in Danbury, CT. Paid cash and had no trade in. Included $180 reg fee. No sales tax because of CT. I think I could have done better but there were 2 people waiting for me not to take this particular car. Sticker was $25,954 (I believe after $600 off from Toyota)

    Hey all.

Just got my 2007 (base, no options) in Silver Pine Mica with tan interior, as desired. (Now I just have to Scotch-guard the fabric before it picks up any dirt.)

    MSRP: $22,175
Negotiated Price: $22,150 (incl. $620 desination & $55 distributor charges, so $21,475 for car.)
State sales tax: $1253.13 (6.25% after rebates & trade in)
    State inspection fee: $23.75
    Title: $33.00
    Registration: $72.30
Dealer taxes & fees (i.e. extra profit): $106.26

Total: $23638.44 OTD, but I traded in ($1200) & used the Military ($500) & College ($400) rebates for an OTD price of $21,538.44.

Put deposit down on 6/16, car was ready Friday evening (6/22.) The salesman traded with another dealer via the distributor to get the car we wanted with no options (since many get installed at the distributor.)

We got it without floor mats, because we weren't going to spend $200 on freaking mats...went to Wal-mart shortly after driving off and picked up a set of gray ones for $20 that match the gray accents on the door trim nicely!

I'm a bit ticked at what was included in the base price...PIO Options of $65 when I asked for none...the sales rep said that included the state inspection fee...so why did I have to pay it "again" on the sales contract? And over $800 in "fees levied by the distributor" for regional advertising, "keeping the lights on," etc. I think I overpaid, but the salesman wouldn't budge but a few hundred bucks and he had my wife convinced. But at least we got the car quickly. What do you guys think?

2005 Prius 13,500 miles salvage title I need to look at the package. Nav, JBL, 6 disc changer, alloy wheels, NO Leather. I think it it package 5. $14K. I don't care that it is a salvage rebuild but that everything works properly....I am also a heck of a mechanic and electrician. Good luck on all the pricing wars at dealerships.

    Hello Pegasus;

I had a couple of questions for you.

    1) How do you get the military discount? Will and ID card suffice?
    2) I live in Dallas and all Texas dealerships get their cars from 'Gulf State Toyota'. They put the 'shield' package on all their cars at the port (fabric guard, paint sealer...) and I noticed that your car did not have it or you did not indicate that you paid for it. I was wondering how you got away without this port-added feature..
    Thanks in advance-
    Brent in Dallas

Yes, as long as you're active duty. Make sure you negotiate price before mentioning rebates or trade-ins!

Here's a link to the details: ($500, good till the end of 2007.)
    http://www.edmunds.com/incentives/RebateCo...mp;popuppage=on

FYI: The college rebate ($400, will graduate or did graduate within 2 years, even from Graduate school) is here:
    http://www.toyotafinancial.com/finance/college_grads.html

Maybe that's what the ~$65 PIO charge was on the dealer invoice. Any way to verify? (Then I can return that can of Scotch-Guard.) :p

I told the rep that I wanted a totally base car: "Package #0," no options, no nuthin'. (Since the base is quite well-equipped for us.)

The raw dealer cost on the car itself was $19988 or so. Then there was that PIO charge and some other stuff (B.S. probably) that added up to over $800 extra.

    Thanks for the information Pegasus.

Thanks for the info on the military discount.

The sealant package looks like this:Vehicle Shield Pkg (PIO) (I)99.00 (MSRP)349.00
(Available Only in Gulf States) Includes Lusterizing Sealant, Sound Shield & Sealant Cleaner & Rental Car Assistance.

The base price on that car sounds very low. The invoice with destination charge should be : $21,039! Then there is an additional freight charge from Gulf States Toyota of $55

Anyhow- Thanks for your help. I'll be taking the plunge in a couple of months and I'm dreading the process. I know they are going to claim ignorance on the military discound, especially if I cannot provide documentation-thanks again for the link. I'm hoping to get a good deal on an '07 after the /08's start to arrive...

Any help from anyone is greatly appreciated, and again, I'm in the Dallas Area. I have big and small dealerships to choose from...

    Thanks again-
    Brent

PS... How did you decide on your dealership? Did you shop via internet?

Somebody elsewhere on here said that that's mostly B.S. and to forgo it. (Add your own sealants after-market yourself. Then you KNOW it's being done.)
Right. The salesman showed me the raw invoice (so he said) so keep quiet with those numbers. That base cost was for the bare car, no destination or anything, which of course must be added. As I said in my original post, the negotiated price with desination and dist. fees (not TTL) was $22,150. Invoice before destination shows as $20,419 on Yahoo and others.
No problem. It was hard to find actually, as I had stumbled upon it by accident.

Dealers here are saying Prii are in high demand at the moment. "45 days ago I had 10 sitting on the lot." Which of course may be B.S. but you would still fare better if you wait until August or so when the '08s come out. Go in the middle of the day in the middle of the week at the end of the month when salespeople (and their managers) are more likely to deal.

Remember that the dealer loses NOTHING on rebates (the mfgr. does,) so don't let them act like it's killing their profit. (This is also why you don't tell them about it until you've negotiated the selling price: so they don't use it against you.)
I did a bit late in the process, but I initially just called area dealers and settled on one because 1) the sales rep's initial price was lower than other dealers in the area 2) He told me of the dealer trade process which would allow me to get the car I wanted much more quickly.

Doing it again, I would grab the worksheet from http://www.carbuyingtips.com/offer.xls , fill it in, then submit them to dealers' internet departments with something like "whoever can match or get closest to this deal first wins it." And let them compete. A little cocky, but noone else is going to look out for you. ;) Fill out that sheet anyway so you have a point of reference. And read all the other stuff on that site! Though a tad cynical, it's great! It helped me fight the finance guys when I initially wanted to lease and they tried to charge me tax twice among a host of other issues! I left that day, let them think they may have lost the deal, then called the sales rep later the next day to do it as a purchase.

We took delivery of our Barcelona Red Touring #6 with grey leather on Friday from Burien Toyota, and were OTD for $6111.30! Plus our 2005 Mini Cooper S Convertible too though ;) With our first child on the way, it was time for our grown up car, but after 2 days we both love the Prius and don't regret the switch one bit. It's a beautiful and well built car.

Total was $27181 (with mats, glass break sensor, cargo net and first aid kit) + $190 title/doc/etc and $541 for sales tax after accounting for the trade, and the car took just 3 1/2 weeks from order to delivery. We worked with Matt Beck in the Internet/Fleet department, and he was great. I don't know what the situation is like now, but back when we ordered this price was about $1000 below what other local dealers quoted us. Burien have a special for employees of several Seattle area companies (listed on their website).

We're both hard accelerators, but stilling getting an average of 40mpg so far. We'll learn to drive it a bit less agressively probably though :)

Well...I am the proud owner of a 2007 Silver Package 6 Touring...$26000 plus tax, title and license...I think I got a VERY fair deal!!!! The price included mats...which will be replaced with all weather mats...price also included XM...I wanted Sirius...but I guess I can sample the XM for three months to see if I should keep it or not. Perhaps there is a way to swap out the XM for Sirius?

Well, I got it! Dealer called me yesterday and said my Prius had hit the ground. Went to the dealer at 11am, and the whole process was very smooth.

    $24,930 + $237 (title, registration, doc fee) = $25,167 OTD (I love not having tax :D )
I will qualify for Oregon's $1500 in hybrid tax credit as well as the Federal, $787.

The dealer even threw in floor mats and rear bumper applique.

I love it so far! :)

Bought a new 2007 Prius, base model for 21K that incl. those mats that they price at $199.00 , just came off the truck, still in "plastic wrap" . I wanted Package #1, but none were available in NY, Ct. or NJ, according to the Toyota dealer. I checked on line, I would have to drive to Mass. to get one.
