Hi guys, I got my '07 EV button from sigma today and had a couple of questions before I install it.

1.) Is a wire taken from a Internet cable sufficient for the pin 27 plug? I just used spare cat-5e cable and unwound one wire, in hopes this would work. I plan on just tapping the wire sigma gave me into my wire I got from the ethernet cable and plugging it into the HV ECU.

2.) for pin one coming out of the harness (the ground wire) can you tap that into the ground on the dimmer harness? and if so what color wire is the ground on the dimmer harness.

    thanks!

(I've been scouring the web because I thought I saw where someone tapped the dimmer's ground before but I can't find it now)

    1) if it's a wire it should work, doesn't require anything special.
    2) Sorry, been too long since I did this. I can't think of any reason that wouldn't work though.

I just got mine from Sigma today also. But, I'm a little disappointed because mine didn't come with the 5th wire (blue wire) for the ECU connector. Only four wires for the switch harness.
How many did your come with?

Oh well, I had already harvested a connector from below the steering wheel anyway......I'll just use them.

TO answer your question, 1) anywire should do to extend from the ECU to the switch.
    2) I would just ground to the nearest metal bolt under the dash area, there are a couple nice ones right behind the switch proximity. That way you are sure it is a ground.

    Hey,

I also received 4 red/white wires and no blue wire. I am just going to tap a long wire that i have already recovered to the 4th wire that they gave us.

Also the wires that they gave us are fairly short... are you sure that they will reach a bolt nearby

I have one more question in regards to wire hookups.

I have an 07 button/harness ... when the harness is attached to the button the harness is in sideways. I just wanted to double check and make sure this configuration is correct before I install...

    Top wire: ground
2nd wire: gray dimmer wire tap
3rd wire: red dimmer wire tap
bottom wire: HV ECU pin 27

    thanks again

    (sorry for the paranoia, haha)

If it lights up, you got the illumination wires (2 & 3) in the correct order. If the switch won't light up (verify you tapped the red and gray wires at the dimmer) then you should swap wires 2-3 at the harness. The switch will not light-up if the polarity is backward.
Pins 1 & 4 don't matter because the switch is just closing a ground connection. It doesn't matter which way it travels.

Success with Ev-button install here too. I used a pin from the steering wheel and shaved down the protrusions on the upper aft part. Slid into the connector smoothly and the pin retainer block closed back flush into the harness connetor.

I used a pin from the steering as well. I didn't shave any thing from the pin connector, I just soldered the wire to it. It slid right in to the H14 plug without any trouble what-so-ever. I'd say that the flasher pins are the ideal piece to use for this installation.

Can you give me the address of Sigma.
I have an 07 with option #3, and would like an EV kit.
For starters: 1. Where can I find anything to read about this item

    2. Will The Toyota dealer install this for me?

    3. Or should I go to a regular toyota special repair shop to have this installed.

    Thanking you in advance

    http://www.sigmaautomotive.com

You can find information to install this mod if you search priuschat.com for "EV button installation" also darell has a good write up at evnut.com

This is really a fairly easy install, I had no electrical experience what-so-ever and installed the EV button in a little over an hour I think. But if you really don't want to do it yourself I'm sure if you gave anyone willing to do it will be able to do it. I know it sounds like a complicated procedure to think of installing the button, but it really easy quite easy.

I just got my sigma switch as well.

I did not have the blue wire either -

Anyone in Tampa Bay Area want some free beer for an install? :)

<div align="left">For those of you who purchased through sigma, what was the wire connector part number. I used jsgarage using information found on another thread, but the information offered there was incorrect as far as the wire connectors (from the harness to the vehicle) are concerned. The EV Button and harness match.

The vendor is helpful but he relies on me to give him the correct part number. So I was hoping that someone out there might have the part numbers at hand.

Here are the numbers I used for my order:

    EV Button: 84720-47020
    Button Harness: 82824-21030
    Wire/Pin: 82998-12690

I have contacted the vendor but it would be most helpful if I had information to offer him.

    Thanks in advance.

Wish I could help you, but the only thing with part numbers was the EV switch and harness. the wires and connectors were just thrown in as part of Sigma's "kit", without any identification.

<div align="left">I realize now that I did not read the specification published elsewhere in priuschat regarding ordering parts because it did not identify the connectors for the 2006-7 harness. So my bad, I ordered the incorrect part. The jgarage outfit from whom I ordered did their job but I did not do mine. If Sigma gives you what you need I suppose customer service issues aside they are the team from whom to order.

It never never occurred to me that my project to EV-ize my Prius could be brought to an abrupt stop by some humble wire connectors. I live in the Silicon Valley and have scoured various dealers and a reputable surplus electronics shop, not to mention Fry's and Radio Shack and no one has suitable connectors.</div>
