I have just bought a new 2007 Prius w/ package #6. I also have a Blackberry 8100 (Pearl) that I have paired with the Prius. Everthing will work for 5 to 10 minutes and then the Prius will loose its BT connection. The BB is still showing the BT is active on the phone, but not paired with the Prius. After a minute the Prius will auto connect with my BB again and everthing is fine for another few minutes. This cycle just continues. I have my BB laying in the cupholder so I know it's not too far away. The BB is only 3 mos old. I'm not sure what is causing the Prius to lose the BT and then re-connect every 5 minutes or so. Has anybody seen this before? I research the forum and haven't seen anyone post a similar problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome! Let's hope another member with a Pearl jumps in here.

In the meantime, have you taken a look at the official instructions?

Apparently, you might want to add the connection to "Trusted" (under "Device Properties") as well as disable the address book transfer feature when you're not using it to transfer contacts.

Thank you for the suggestions. I did find and tried to follow the Toyota's Letstalk instructions. I still was getting the same results. Just this evening I checked and found a software update for the BB Pearl. I'll give this a try tomorrow. Hopefully with a positive result! Very annoying to have the BB lose its BT connection every few minutes.

I have a BB 8100 as well. I hadn't seen the same issues that you are seeing. It did happen to me when I get out of the car or when I get back into the car to drive again. I do recall that I had to check "yes" on auto connect or something like that on my BB pearl. But it seems like you are seeing it intermittently as you are driving? Strange. FYI, I leave my phone in the cup holder as well and it's fine there.

One thing you might want to do is to change the name of the Car's Bluetooth Name. It is default at "hands free". Try changing the name of it. I recall when I went to a Lexus dealership to take my mom's lexus in, my phone was trying to connect to other car's blue tooth devices as they are all probably named "hands free". Who knows, maybe another Lexus/toyota drove by and your BB pearl tried to associate with it. Just a thought!

Thank you for the helpful suggestions. I think my problem is solved. Although I had a farely new BB Pearl, the software was not current. I downloaded the current version and I have not had the disconnect/reconnect problem since then. It works great now. Not sure what the new BB software version has that the other didn't. Happy it works now as advertised.

Thank you everyone. Hopefully this post will be helpful for others that run across the same problem.

I was going to ask whether or not the Pearl was new because I had the same problem when I bought my Dash. The only reason that I knew it was phone related was because my SDA worked flawlessly just prior.

I wound up exchanging the phone for another Dash that worked. Voila!
