Did I ruin my "regenerative braking"?

I used to manage a car wash back in college that had a track and these things happen all the time. Tires skip over rollers quite often and they are designed to handle this, with the roller bearings free to roll either way. No damage was done other than the cosmetic issue of hitting the truck.

I saw amazing things working at a drive through car wash.
"Put your car in nuetral please!"
customer yells back "I don't have a nuetral!"

"don't steer, please" Followed 30 seconds later with their car off the track in the middle of the wash. They then open their window and get soaked rather than watch the hand signals as we set up a ramp to get them back on.

"left....no your other left!"

A Customer freaks out in the middle of the wash and proceeds to put the car in gear and drive rapidly over ALL the rollers and out the exit.

MANY customers turn on their wipers mid wash so they can see...
Or, they get halfway through the wash and decide to check what's on the radio. Antenna goes up and is ripped off. Customer blames the wash.

Middle age employees pretending to repair the blow dryer at the end to "get a better look in the window".

Cops come throught the wash as new employee is putting out a joint.

Frequent washers come in during rainstorms, or 20 below weather. We'd actually close the wash when it was worse than 10 below and people would get PISSED. DUDE...You'll get frozen inside your car, literally unable to open the door!

 

I got a kick out of this. My partner runs 3 washes here in Michigan. The stories he tells me sometimes are comical.... he installed HD cameras at 15 points in the wash to combat the people who say "the wash scratched my car". As of 2 years ago, every car that enters his washes are scanned via HD cameras BEFORE they enter. It has saved him thousands in false scratch/dent claims. If somebody claims the wash damaged their car, he can pull up the car from all different angles in high def and show the customer that the damage was pre-existing. He's 1 smart cookie! 9.75 out of 10 times, the damage is pre-existing.

OH, and every year Ford (we are in Metro Detroit) sends engineers over to lessen the incidence of having Ford customers have parts (mirrors, antennas, etc) ripped off in car washes. They study my partners car wash equipment and run through several M-plate vehicles.

With that being said, my Prius is always clean.

 

When I first got my 89 Probe GT, my dad borrowed it less than a week after I bought it and ran it through a car wash with the radio on and it ripped the antenna right off. Fun times.
