We're brand new here, first post. We are about to buy our first Prius! With only a couple days left in July we wonder if August holds better deals?

We've noticed over the past few days, that dealers in our area are receiving quite a few 2007 units. We are wondering if there will be better deals on 2007 cars in August?

We can pick up a Package 3 this weekend for $24,200.

We have to decide today. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated...Now or August?

I've read a lot of posts on here in the last month or so about how people are having a heck of a time getting the cars they want. Obviously, you can get bigger discounts at the end of a model year, but only if the cars are available. Your price sounds like an OK deal, $740 under MSRP, although I've certainly heard of people getting better deals (it's still $1200 over invoice).

If I had to decide, I'd probably wait. You may not be able to get an '07 for very much longer, but you're also not getting a fantastic discount at that price. I'd either shop around or wait until August to see if you can get a better discount and, if you're not able to find an '07 in August, you could probably get an '08 for a similar price soon after. Of course, this implies that you don't desperately need a new car now.

If you really trust your salesperson, Then ask him/her if any special Toyota incentives are going to be in place next month?

I asked mine and he told me to wait until the next month ( we bought in March 07) but was looking at the end of Feb. around the 25th or so. We found out that the financing was going to drop to 2.9% then instead of 3.9 so that helped.

This close to the end of the Month they know what is planned for the next month probably found out this last Thursday.

    So ASK

good luck on the new purchase

This is purely my opinion, but if the Prius you can get this weekend suits your needs/desires in terms of features and price, go for it. It's the 'end of the month', which is supposed to be the best time to negotiate a deal for any car. And I'm under the impression that the 2008's are just starting to be built, so it may be a little too early for dealers to be viewing the 2007 model as a 'leftover'.

The recent earthquake in Japan damaged an auto parts plant that makes parts for many different automobiles, causing a shutdown at many of the auto plants for a day or so. I think I've heard that there's a push to get the parts supplier's plant back to full production quickly, so it may not affect the flow of Prius cars into the US in August

In any case, whenever you buy your new car, I guarantee people will come out of the woodwork to tell you about fantastic deals you missed, just like the fish that got away that was 60 feet long.

I'm of the same opinion. When I happened to walk into a Toyota showroom and found that they had in stock the exact Prius I wanted -- the base model, Magnetic Gray, Package #2 (sometimes called #3, depending on where and when you're on Toyota's website) -- I negotiated, but was willing to and did settle at my pre-set maximum price.

So true! The same applies to houses. I understand that the largest group of people reading the real estate sale ads are not prospective buyers or sellers, but rather they're people who had just bought or sold homes.

My opinion, too, is to get the one you like when you see it. Think about whether you would be disappointed if the one you have your eye on now is not available in August. Remember, too that once the 2007 are gone from the dealer, they will probably not be getting more, they'll go on to the 2008. Good luck, though. Whenever you get it you will LOVE it!

We found a local dealer who had a Blue Pkg 3 already ordered. Actually it's suppose be "on a truck" coming into Seattle from Portland, no later than today. Our name is on the car, can't say that we are not a little bit concerned about whether it shows up, although this dealer has a very good reputation.

There are many Prius on the lots here, but we want a grey interior, in either Seaside Pearl or Black with Pkg 3 for the bluetooth.

We'll be sure to drop back and let everyone know what happens, and how the dealer was.

Great! Make sure you don't buy the Toyota Platinum Care extended warranty from them, unless they're selling it for the same price or less that you can get it here - $980.

Also, keep in mind that the '08 model will be available at dealers in August.

I had made a separate thread about our dealer experience, however it was suggested I copy that here as well:

We bought from Bob Bridge Toyota, in a suburb of Seattle. We had an incredibly easy, stress-free experience buying the car from there -- actually the best ever. We worked with John Stone and Jim Dawson.

We contacted the dealership over the internet this past Thursday. They were happy to work with us online, and over the phone, and were quick to respond to our inquires. We were looking specifically for a Seaside Pearl with Gray in a Package 3. They said had one due within four days. Without our asking, he told us the MSRP as well as the Invoice on the car, and then made us an offer. It was that quick and simple. We were happy with the offer which included the carpet mats, and rear bumper applique. Our name was entered into their system, just as if we had ordered the car and we were not asked for one cent, or to sign anything prior to the car arriving.

Just as promised, the shipment with our car arrived at the dealership four days later. On delivery, the paperwork was super quick. There was absolutely no monkey business or attempts to add on extra dealer charges of any type, no bogus fees, and no pressure whatsoever to purchase extended warranties. The car was perfect. The carpet mats were in, the car was spotless, perfectly prepped, and yes...the tank was full. The salesman went through everything in the car with us, and familiarized us with all the books, manuals, and smart key system. We were invited back at anytime to go through the car's features again. The entire process at the dealer took LESS than 2 hours, and honestly most of that time was learning the vehicle and asking questions.

Many of the people said that they have worked for there for many years, including our salesman. In my opinion this is an indication of a quality dealership. On a further note, I would say that everyone working there seemed happy, mellow, and honestly seemed to like each other! Definitely not like the dog-eat-dog dealerships that are so common.

We've bought many cars over the years from most the major manufacturers. This is the first time EVER that we have had ZERO problems or concerns. It could not have gone better. I would enthusiastically recommend Bob Bridge Toyota to anyone.
