I would be curious as to how this impact the MPG of the prius (the hitch)

Thanks for the confirmation, Phil! Yes, it can be a booger to pull back that plastic tab for each pin. Would help to have a third hand sometimes! I Found that holding the plug in a vice really helped.

About the same as the wheel covers, the antenna, a full tank of gas, gaining 35 pounds, driving 0.00002 mph faster, turning the headlights on, listening to the stereo really loud.

Simple answer: No change in mpg. Of course this assumes that you are not also towing a trailer. :)

U-haul uses the curt hitch...still has the curt sticker on it (got mine installed in march for $120 - that's the purchase and install price together).

I just did the same thing, went to Daryl's site, understood it all, bought my parts (wiring harness, reciever bike rack, etc from e-Trailer with great service) and came back to find Daryl's page down. I was bummed! After some research, I found a cached version of the page at this link. I saved it for future reference.

(paste the above link in your browser with no break between the question mark and the q)

Hope this helps, it kept me from going to bed cranky. -PerdidoKeyPrius, Perdido Key Florida

I have come across a new kit which may be better due to an integrated ground.

    Stay tuned.

Well , all the local places only carry hoppy brand and nothing looks like the 18308

    so I had to order a 118308 from etrailer.com

it looks as it is the same as the 18308 just another digit.
have to haul a 4 wheeler on the small trailer. The atv weighs about 400 pounds and I have it pretty well balanced on the trailer you can pick it up off the hitch with one hand and only has about 30 pound tongue weight. it is a very light trailer good for 750 # load anyway.
