She is fine. Not so sure about the Prius. She was shaken up, because the other driver left the scene; hit and run.

I'll see the car tonight. She said something about the bumper being damaged.

UGH. This ticks me off on many levels, not the least of which, is this is like (seriously), the 15th time or so that cars of mine and hers have been rear ended (with varying degrees of damage), in South Florida. And I just know, with my deductible, that to get it repaired will cost me money...Money I do not want to/can spend right now, because we are moving...

She is just as mad about this as I am, and for LN to get mad...says something. Anyway. Just venting.

I'm so sorry. I'm glad she's all right.

Maybe you shouldn't get it fixed (if you can drive it without fixing it) until you move to a place where you might have a chance of getting rear-ended less often....

I'm serious.... If it keeps happening, well, cut your losses by not fixing it until you get out of town.

Glad to hear the wife is ok , it always sucks when some A$$ has to either follow too close or not pay attention, or speed, and cause an accident then decide to hit and run that's the worst part. :(

Times like that is when Frontier Justice should be had, While living in Northern AZ. we were real close to a reservation and a few Drunken Indians wanted to try and steal the Ex Sheriffs 4x4 hahahah Frontier Justice took over  , needless to say they did not try that stunt again.

Hope she could give a good description to the cops and they can tell if the car in question has front end damage.
Remember it can be fixed. :)

The Prius, though a fine automobile, is still JUST a car.

I'm glad that she is fine. When all is said and done, so are you.
Be sure to hug and kiss her when you get home. Make sure the first words outof your mouth are, "are you sure you're alright? I'm glad you're okay."

After reading the thread title, I was expecting a different kind of story.

ouch, hit and runs suck. i can feel your pain. at least your wife was okay, that's the most important thing. the car is fixable and even replaceable, not so much the wife. so be nicer than usual to her tonight :)

i know from personal experience that it's hard to deal with unexpected extra financial stress when you've got so much else going on, but remember it's just money in the end.

i just re-evaluated our insurance coverages after two incidents in 3 months. you may want to think about doing that too, given the high risk in your area.

Thanks everyone. She is fine. She was at a STOP, stopped. I know, I know, how foolish.

Anyway, this guy in a black Chevy truck with a 'BUSH IS RIGHT, AND TREE HUGGING LIBERAL WEENIES ARE WRONG' bumper sticker, hit her, and then ran on. With no license plate. Nice.

The damage is mostly scratches, and the bumper is at a jaunty angle. But we think we can fix both.

There is nothing the cops can do. Which is typical.

I was gonna say, South Florida? Old folks who can't see well enough
to distinguish a line of stopped cars in front of them ... except
that if your description of the pickup is serious, that sounds like
someone younger. It also sounds like it would be readily identifiable,
even if its occupant managed to get plates on it.

I am glad your wife was not harmed. It's just a car, it'll get fixed, it won't complain. May be you should have a bumper sticker "Don't be the 17th person to rear end my vehicle". <_<

Bummer. The hit and run is a MAJOR bummer. At least they can't say you're at fault. Often hit and runs are in a different category, with a different deductible. You might want to check on it.

It's a Comprehensive claim in NJ. Maybe someday we will have the good fortune of seeing the perp on COPS. Glad to hear she is OK and sorry about the car.

here in nc it's certainly not a comprehensive claim, that's collision.

at least on our policy, bodily injury is covered from a hit and run whether the driver/owner of the vehicle is identified or not. however, property damage is only covered if the driver/vehicle is identified. we know from experience.
