Sounds like we both have the same amount of daily transit. We have saved over $1K so far in the two months we had the car, and now it has over 5300 on it. Going to change the oil this weekend with Mobil 1.

 

2000 Camry - great car and ran perfectly, just had 180,000 miles and had some paint problems. Sold it last night to one of my neighbors

 

1995 Chrysler Concorde. I actually loved that car, mainly because I loved working on it. But the transmission started slipping A LOT on the highway at 75-80 mph so I decided she had to go. I was getting about 20-22 mpg, and I am now getting about 48 mpg. I still have some work to do learning the new Prius and driving it efficiently, that is if I ever get to drive it (wife has it most of the time). All in all I love it! And between my wife taking it on the days that I don't drive the carpool we are saving TONS of money!

 

I traded in a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid for my 2007 Prius.

 

2001 Toyota Camry wagon (which is now in the posession of my eldest daughter).

 

2000 Mercedes E320 "Janis" ... "Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz...." Loved it but she was at the end of her entended warranty and...well.. you know what MB repair costs are like. Bye Janis.

 

1992 Camry. It needs a good $1k in repairs before being serviceable (big exhaust leak with a temp beer can patch, inspection-failing windshield crack, pint-a-month trans fluid leak, no AC in NY summer, poorly latching driver's door due to t-boning by SUV, shot engine mounts, moderate oil burning, etc...). But it can hold its own against NYC cabs (and NYC potholes), always starts, and still gets you home. May be the first car I drive to the wrecking yard for recycling (the last two I had to have towed).

Just picked up my '07 Touring Prius today and much prefer it to the Camry. Far more elegant use of volume and footprint. The Camry shall be but a memory by the end of this weekend

 

Replacing my 15 mpg Jeep Liberty 2002....with 150K miles on it!

It's been nice and worked when we were Rock Climbing/Off Roading more - now that I'm moving to Hawaii and have a child - being a good environmentalist is more and more important.

1997 GMC Yukon with 270,000 miles. It has been very faithful and dependable, but it is on its last legs and is a gas guzzler. Picked up our 2007 Magnetic Grey Pkg 2 (with leather and woodgrain trim) on Saturday morning. 41.5 mpg on the first tank of gas. Absolutely loving it.

 

My used 05 prius package 5(everything except fog lights and leather) with 14137 miles on it purchased for $14K(salvage title) replaced a 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8S with AC and upgraded stero system that I put in the vehicle. The FE of the sentra was between 23-28 MPG for my average commute of 17 miles one way to work. I will get about $9K for my sentra which brings my average cost for my Prius to ~$5K. Since the cost works out very low I have purchased several mods for my new used baby:

Is a third car. I drive a conversion van and with gas, terrible roads, and a short 10 minute commute, it was worth it to get a good fuel efficient car just to keep extra mileage off the conversion van. Savings in gas is gravy, cause I figure the van will last at least 3 years longer and 36 months of payments x $600 a month is more than what I paid for the Prius.

 

I am replacing my '99 Ford Contour and I will be very sad (probably cry) to see my co-worker who bought it drive away in it as it was my first car and served me well for 7 years (I got it in 2000). I am really going to miss my Carry (it's her name), but hopefully my new Prius and I will have just as many, if not more years together. At least I'll get to see her at work since a co-worker is buying her.

 

My son is now driving my 1987 Mazda 626. It was a nice car and did well for me for the last twenty years.

 

Acura RSX Type S. Rice car. Well, I noted two things. 1. No bottom end, lotsa "work" to beat people out from a red light. Not really the fastest thing on the road, so BMWs with 6s, Volvos with torque putting my
efforts cut short by revlimiter to shame 2. gas getting higher. So I was driving slower. I was getting close to 30 mpg going to work (per windowsticker 21/25 or something). Lots of people getting mad at me for
speeding up too slow or slowing down to time the red lights.

Hee hee, still the same mad people, but now I am getting 65mpg going to work.

 

'92 Honda Accord EX, which we donated for the benefit of our public radio station.

 

2006 Ford F-250 Lariat Crew Cab Diesel 4X4. I used to get 11 mpg since it put out 495 rwhp and 795 ft lbs of torque and could tow a house. I came to realize that it was unnecessary and decided to get a 2007 Touring Package #6. I guess you can say i was reformed.

 

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GLS. 52 stop lights between me and my job made my 5 speed baby something of an inconvenience at times, although I really love a stick, especially on snow and ice. 21 mpg, limited passenger and "stuff" space and a 16 year old needing to accumulate behind the wheel hours (our other car is a 3/4 ton Ford pick-up for pulling our boat) made the trade for "Tink" a no-brainer. I have never been sorry!

 

1990 2.0L manual SV21 Camry wagon. (Best milage 7.0l/100km (gliding) average 8.5L/100km
Prius is the only car I have found that compared to the Camry. For me the newer Camrys are too big. We are a single child family so no need for a bigger car.
I do most of my driving across Adelaide, 68km per day commuting plus other running around. This is the perfect environment for the Prius.
The Camry was getting a bit long in the tooth for me, I love the car but with 284000km on it, it's time a kid had a chance to own a great Camry wagon. I still own the Camry, it's for sale, $2000AU or near offer.
