There is only one key lock on the Prius, it's in the driver's door. There are no other traditional key type locks.

Australian Prius don't have a power outlet in the dash, only one in the centre consul box.

If you lock the Prius (basic) with the remote then unlock it but don't open the door, it will lock it's self in about 30 seconds.

The steering wheel controls are illuminated when the lights are on.

In Australia the reverse beeper cannot be disabled.

If you need more room in the boot (trunk) you can lift the tool tray cover and fold it in the middle. Use the strut on the left side to hold it up and stack you luggage in the tool tray. Make sure to put small items in front of the folded floor before you fold it to maximise the space.

The front seats can be folded down flush with the back seats to form a very bad bed.

Australian Prius has the steering wheel on the right side, the indicator/light stalk is on the right side of column while wiper control is on the left.
. The power button is in the silver panel under the furthest right air vent.
The park brake is on the left, above the left footrest.
There is no headlight height adjuster.

L/100km are better than mpg, one expresses fuel consumption while the later expresses mileage. There is only one size for litres in this world, unlike gallons.

I'm not sure how one can be considered 'better' than the other; they are just different ways of expressing the same measurement, since (apart from the different units of measure) one is just the inverse of the other. Then again, maybe 'down under' it's easier to look at fractions upside-down. B)

I've been to AUS, and I have a map I bought there with Australia on top... To them, we are upside down! Ha, and yes, the toilets do flush the opposite (wrong!) way.

There are two types of rear wipers - NA and Europe/Japan.

    Japan gets a different antenna.

    I read the lot
thanks for letting me know where that loose piece of plastic goes - its a shelf in the top glove box
just going to find the pole that holds the flap up above the spare tyre

In UK we have 7 spoke wheels - they appear to be grey steel with silver plastic covers
    Why?

The space between the side and middle headrests on the backseat is a perfect spot and perfect size for my dog to rest his head.

    Some Prius NAV facts...

As with most buttons in the car, holding it in for a couple seconds has a different function than simply pressing it. In the NAV, if you press the + or - to zoom while in motion, it moves between pre-set zoom settings (50m, 100m, 200m or 150ft, 300ft, 600ft, etc...). However, if you are not moving you can hold the + or - and it zooms at a much smoother increment and allows 'in-between' zoom levels such as 150m (which I prefer!).

Also when not moving, once you press the zoom button and the "zoom bar" appears momentarily at the bottom of the screen, you can also press right on that bar to jump straight to a specific zoom level.

To easily get to one of these zoom levels while in motion, save that setting as a "NAV user" for easy recall.

If you press anywhere on the map to get it out of the "follow" mode, you can zoom in, out, do whatever you want, then just press the MAP button to immediately jump back to your preferred zoom level. ;)

Finally - this one unrelated to zooming - adjusting the "Travel Speeds" in the Nav preferences only adjusts your arrival time calculation and has no bearing at all on the calculated route logic. (though I think it should!)

I did not know that. :p

Did you know that a 14 lb dog will not set off the passenger seatbelt warning, but a 24 lb dog will? Its true.

I think by pressing the park button first, it forces the driver to "slow down" and do a better job of hitting the power button.

I find that if I'm in a hurry, I hit the power button and start to get out only to see all the lights are still lit up on the dash, so I have to hit it again... I think I'm not pressing it completly the first time.

I would do some experimenting.... turn on the visor mirror light and turn off the car and see if it stays on, the dome etc... something is getting left on... most things like the radio etc turn of when the main power is killed, but some things are tied to the accessory circuit and can stay on.

Not sure if this one is in here already:
SKS only - you can't lock a door by pressing the black button on the outside door handle unless you have the fob on you (in range of the door handle).

But what keeps me from hitting the Park button too quickly? Maybe if I change radio stations first. Oh, but where will it end?

If you have the back up camera and you reverse while looking at the MFD image, when the line of the bumper in the image meets a mark on the ground and you stop so that the 2 points are touching on the screen, the distance between the bumper and the mark is exactly 1 foot.

This may have been covered, but, when the car is in reverse and the backup camera is on, the radio functions do not work.

I know you are wondering, "why is he messing with radio when he should be paying attention to what is behind him?" Well, sometimes I don't agree with the wife's choice of radio station and want to change it prior to moving the vehicle. Yeah, let's go with that. :p

A 48" bungee fits perfectly between opposite corner D-rings. Keeps things from shifting around and the $3 price can't be beat.

If the radio is off, you do not need to press the power button to turn it on, then select the function you want.
All you need to do is select the function you want (such as FM) and it will turn on automatically.

The radio control knobs can be pushed so they are flush with the dash.
Press them again and they'll pop out for use.

the "super secret" storage compartment under the front seat cupholders were actually design to perfectly hold one standard box of tissues (minus the actual cardboard box)... Yay Prius

Hmm... I pull the drawer out half way and it is exactly the right size for one of those small, square boxes of tissues (with the box).
