just bought new 07 and dealer wrote me up for a extened warranty for $1900 with Century and i informed him that i wanted a Toyota Warranty and he said theat would be $2100.00. Now realizing that there is a Gold , Platinum and your a stupid Smuck Warranty, what is my recourse. I understand that i have 30 days to inform the dealer? living in California.
i also purchased the pre paid maintenance plan for 1380.00 was that a wise move?

warranty? the vehicle comes with a very nice warranty included free of charge...

you can do whatever you like, but if it were me, I'd head on down and say 'you can remove this item from the bill, or you can have the car back'...

call me crazy, but I think the car only really needs oil/filter and tire rotation for a very very very long time...

Hi tazman360, welcome to PriusChat! You can get a genuine Platinum Toyota extended warranty here (look under Prius Accessories at the top of the page) for under $1000 at any time before 36 months/36,000 miles of ownership, so definitely don't over-pay the dealer.

You can also get a quote for and purchase pre-paid maintenance from the same place, though I have to say the Prius is almost maintenance free. Oil and oil filter replacement, and tire rotation every 5K miles, engine and cabin air filters every 15K miles (and you can do those yourself, easily), the rest is just inspections which are usually free anyway. If you're the type to procrastinate and skip maintenance unless you had already spent the money, pre-spend the money. A light will come on at 4500 mile intervals to remind you to get maintenance done.

Definately get a refund on the warranty you were sold.
Whether to purchase any extended warranty or not is totally up to you. I did when I got my '04, I'm out of my basic warranty and am yet to need to use the extended. That said, several people have had their MFD go out on their '04s out of warranty and were stuck with a pretty pricy bill for that repair. But that part has been fixed on later models, along with some other minor issues that have cropped up on the earliest models.

So, it's highly unlikely you'll ever need to use the extended warranty, but if an expensive part does go out outside of the basic warranty certainly it'll be nice to have the extended.

But yes, buy the one from Priuschat if you opt to purchase the extended and spend the $1100 you save on a new Plasma screen HDTV!!
