    That's funny... I have a Fisher Paykel washer and dryer, which I think are from your end of the world :lol:

    They are the darndest things. The washer spins at 1000 rpms... it sounds a little like a small jet engine. The dryer is a CAVE; it's just huge!

    I know there isn't much internal difference between my $300. basic Whirlpool and my $900. HE4. A lot of the parts are interchangeable.

    Once you go with front loaders, you don't go back to top loaders. I've had my Whirlpool Duet for over a year with no problems. Of course, this presumes that you can buy both washer and dryer which may or may not be the case. They're stackable too. Some people complain of mold developing with the washer over time but this is my second set of front loaders and I've not had that problem before. I leave the washer door open a little after a wash so that it can dry out. My first set ran perfectly for the three years that I had them but left them with the house when I sold it. That set was Frigidaire if you can believe it. :)

    I have both a Miele Washer and Dryer .... they will probably out last me ... not cheap but VERY well made.
