I've ordered a brand new Prius, and I will pick it up the 3 sept. The days are passing so slowly I'm going nuts! I read the forum every day, look in my Prius-catalouge, but nothing helps. How can I make wait less painful?

    Take a vacation? ;)

I do not know, that's a tough one. I was fortunate enough to go out to a dealer and get one within a week of making an effort to buy one.

Back in 2001 I ordered a BMW that I had to wait three months for.... that was pretty painful. I found that after a week or two of waiting your mind grows accustomed to not having it right now and it gets a little easier.

Maybe you should avoid the forums in the meanwhile so as to not have Prius envy while waiting?

I wish you the best and good luck on the wait :(

Can't do much about the 'Pain'', but read up and print out some of the stuff at this site and John1701a.com . In particular, read my "Why don't I get the EPA numbers" article (see the stickies under the Fuel economy forum). Find and print the instructions for turning off the back-up beeper. Learn about the stages of hybrid operation and the steps to Hybrid Nirvana (this'll test your googling ability and waste some hours!).

At John1701a's site he has a lot of good information. For sure print out his user's guide. He has nice instructions for changing your own oil and other general maintenance as well (cabin air filter, tire rotation, etc). He also has a lot of good stuff for simplifying your understanding of how the PSD/transaxle works, what the various arrows and colors on the MFD mean, etc.

When you're ready for more technical stuff take a look at Hobbit's site:
    http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/cars/prius-linkfarm.html

more tech and interesting graph's and stuff here:
    http://privatenrg.com/

Once you've absorbed all you find at those spots just come back to Priuschat and follow the threads, lots of info exchanged.

I say keep reading up on the threads. It's always good to gather as much information as possible before you jump in your new kick nice person car. :) Congrats and good luck on the wait. It's worth it.

Thanks for your great tips and links. I'll read up on good driving practice and technical stuff.

BTW: Does anyone know where to get good Prius images appropriate for Windows desktop background?

My first Prius, a Silver Pine Mica package #2, is supposed to be in this weekend. I'm waiting impatiently with you Kaze72.
