Close to getting my sleeper Touring Prius modded out just the way I want it! Thanks for all the posts on this board to give me some great ideas and help.

First off, here is my iPhone dash set up (using Proclip mount):

(Click to enlarge pictures - sorry for Image Shack ads)

And here is my Garmin GPS (again with Proclip mount):

Secure Valentine V1 Radar Detector mounted in Dome compartment:

    Suspension Mods (self installed)

    1. TRD Springs and Struts

    2. Tom's Braces (upper strut, lower cross member, front chassis brace, rear chassis brace)

I think I am getting 2-3 MPH better with this set up - ? maybe due to better aerodynamics with 1 inch lowering of vehicle?

    Left to do:

    1. Tires - probably Falken Ziex ZE 512

    2. Raise fronts of seats for better thigh support (or replace?)

    3. Maybe a Mac Mini?

I have the first two without doing any modding to my Prius. It already has NAV and Bluetooth for my cell phone. :)

Where is your Garmin mounted with the proclip? Is it inside the vent, or in a crack of the dash panels?

Proclips mount within the cracks on the dashboard. They are removable and do not cause any underlying damage to the vehicle. The primary problem with them is the cost!

must be nice to live somewhere that you can block the air vents... if i did that here, i'd weigh the car down in sweat!

    nice mods, though!!

I'm thinking proclip to mount my HP hw6515 PDA/GPS/GSM phone.
Where can I find pics of all the strut and chassis braces and outside of the car? I wanna see to overal look.

Your right rest, you can get $500 worth of GPS and Blue Tooth with the car for an extra $8000 here in Australia, how much extra is the package there?

    Nice.

Could you please comment on your impression of the difference in your car's drivability/handling with the suspension mods. I am really considering TRD suspension to improve my car's handling before changing out wheels/tires -- eventually I want to do both.

    Thanks

Have you ever had the problem of forgetting to turn that guy off when you leave the car? The only available power up there doesn't turn off with the ignition as far as I know. Also, is it even remotely level to the road?

    Thanks for great comments.

    1. Handling: markedly improved with the TRD s/s and Tom's braces. You can almost toss the car around curves now. I tihnk the braces, either BT Brace or the Tom's set up are probably the most important, with the TRD s/s second.

    2. Valentine: Yes, I have left in on occassionally, but not a big deal. It is almost level and works very well (front and rear), even with the screen in the winshield area. There is an ignition on/off up there but I couldn't get it to power the detector.

    3. Blocking the vent is a bit of a pain on hot days when first getting in but not a big issue for me.

I took another look and you're right, it's just the camera angle that makes it look like it isn't level. As for power, I was probing that connector and it looks like the black wire is only grounded when the car is off, which is the opposite of what is needed. The black/white wire is a constant ground. Kinda odd.

Either way, slick install. One day I'd like to follow in your footsteps with some suspension upgrades.

Sleeper touring Prius? Is Sleeper a mod or just what you do in it? I've gone camping and had to abandon the tent when it got too cold and stretched out quite comfortably in the prius. Even slept with the heater on and used very little gas for an overnight stay.

lol. The term "sleeper" implies a vehicle that's been modded in such a way that it is invisible on the outside (so it's usually performance or interior mods). It can also refer to a vehicle that is a "wolf in sheep's clothing". Usually a performance vehicle that looks ordinary on the outside.

    Example

This looks like a normal Passat wagon but it has a 271hp W8 engine under there that take the wagon to 60mph in 6.5 secs
