Excerpts taken from an MSN article...it was worth a good chuckle...

While the eyes may be considered the window to someone's soul, a person's car may very well be a window into the heart. "Many people rely on their date's choice of clothing as the primary indicator of personality, but their date's car may be an even bigger indicator of who they really are—especially in the love department," says Terri Orbuch, Ph.D., the host of Detroit's popular Love Doctor live television and radio programs. Below, find her thoughts on what car selection reveals about your date (or, hey, even about yourself) and about that reveals about how your romance potential.

The car: A Toyota Prius or any other hybrid

What the car says about its owner: You guessed it: The person behind the wheel of a Prius chose an environmentally-friendly car because that cause is meaningful to him or her. "This driver is an energetic volunteer or cause-supporter who is often earnest and serious," Dr. Orbuch notes. "This person is wearing his or her priorities on a sleeve (well, on the car…) and is interested in making a statement." Just know that he or she "probably doesn't have a sense of humor when it comes to rainforest preservation, veganism, or Dennis Kucinich," she says. Ultimately, these drivers have good souls, she says: "People appreciate their commitment to their beliefs, even if they may be prone to preaching."

What the car says about its owner's love style: The hybrid driver is likely searching for someone who shares his or her politics and passions. "This driver is probably most apt to meet his or her perfect mate at a political march or a benefit," says Dr. Orbuch. She also suggests that because this person may be a bit uptight in the love department; finding a mate who can loosen him or her up is essential.

    Sure, that's me.
    Earnest and serious.
    No sense of humor.

So, what's wrong with Rainforest preservation, Veganism, and Dennis Kucinich?

    Oh, and this:
Proves that the author has been missing her meds... ;)

    What a crock....

I'm so sick of people telling me I bought the Prius because of my image.

I don't give a flying (bleep) at a rolling doughnut about a vehicles "statement".

Also really sick of articles pointing out the save the earth type benefits while ignoring all the other benefits of a Prius, particularly oil dependency and common sense of buying a good car.

Freakin hilarious!!!! I just got my 2007 Prius last Sunday. I am a Real Estate Developer!! I am the kind of guy that most of those enviro-liberal folks want to run over with their Prius when they see me crossing the street!!! Of course, I am pretty moderate politically, and my projects tend to be infill development, or designed to fit their sites, with low environmental impacts (I used to be an urban planner). Still, that usually doesn't make a difference to the people this author considers the typical Prius driver. I would NEVER vote for Dennis Kucinich.

My favorite part about this was the "make a statement" part. Isn't that true about most people and their vehicle purchases? In my case, this would probably be the LAST reason I chose a Prius ;) I chose it because:

    1) The Prius is a very affordable car for me, and an exceptional value for the money considering what Toyota includes (I have a Touring/Package #6)

    2) The Prius is extremely economical to operate

    3) The Prius is practical given my lifestyle (I regularly drive out of town for business, and I have two young boys, so I needed something with 4-doors and a decent back seat)

    4) The Prius is simply a FUN car to drive.

I am married to a beautiful and intelligent woman, so it isn't too important to me to be able to impress chicks with the type of car I drive (my wife thinks the Prius is cool BTW....and she is someone who likes to do a lot of volunteer work etc...so maybe the author is onto something). However, that fact that liberal environmental women might see me driving this car and find me more attractive is very amusing to me ;) It just goes to show you that if you are someone shallow enough to judge people by the type of car they drive, you might be in for a real surprise!!!!! ;)

Well, it had to be for reasons other than JUST the car right?? Just kidding.

You have to understand....I live in Southern California, and there are literally women around here who:

    1) might meet a guy walking around somewhere, totally hit it off with him, have a lot in common with him (I am talking about the fabled "instant chemistry" thing)....and then, when they see that he drives a 5 year old toyota pickup instead of a current model BMW or Lexus....would find a reason to "just be friends", or maybe not ever see him again.

    2) might meet a guy in the parking lot where they just saw him park his E55 AMG or BMW 750i and instantly be attracted to him....go out on a date and find out that the guy was totally boring and self-posessed, and STILL be totally attracted to him.

Don't make the mistake of thinking I am generalizing about the people who drive these types of cars BTW. I know multi-millionaires who drive around in old Ford pickups, and extremely cool, thoughtful, and just plain awesome people who drive around in BMW 750i's. To be clear...I am generalizing about a certain type of Southern California woman here :p And I will freely admit that I am generalizing. But you have to admit that stereotypes can't persist unless they are at least a little bit true right? I'll leave it at that before I anger too many people. I am relatively new to this forum so I don't want to ruffle too many feathers.

Is this article a joke? Did anyone read this:
I've never met anyone like this in an SUV. Not me, my friends or family.

What about the people who bought a Prius because they don't want to spend $100 a week on gas.

    Ding, Ding, Ding.

I didn't buy any of my cars to make a statement, I bought the Prius because:

It had enough headroom for me to fit.
    It got excellent gas mileage.
It was a 4 door hatchback.

I was also considering a Toyota Matrix, but bought the Prius because I was impressed with the HSD design. It is f'ing brilliant.

I'm going to write an authoritative article. It'll be on others who write authoritative articles. In a nut shell it will state, "We have a huge propensity to publish anything that comes out of our sphincter".

I buy Toyota because I believe you should always buy the best. (My wife and I have 3)
I bought a Prius because it is a size that suits me, is at the cutting edge, and to me it has the lowest running cost. The environment is also important to me.

My 90 Camry Wagon was perfect for me, the Prius is the only Toyota close to that size. I can carry all I want to carry in it and I commute 35km across the city every day, the natural habitat of Prius. I'm also a bit uptight in the love department so I was naturally drawn to the Prius.

I just told my wife I was uptight in the love department because I own a Prius, she said, "sounds like a bunch of wankers to me". I now need to go looking for that mate who can loosen me up as that is essential. :p
    Sorry Mrs Sparks. :)
