Please add us to the Silver Pine Mica Club. :) We got our SPM (green) on 07-07-2007, package #2 with dark gray interior. We have only 70 miles on the car. MPG 40.2, still a little tight. I have read the owners manuel two times. It likes a new computer. We went for a walk yesterday an spotted (4) SPM's within 3 blocks of our home, and when we got home we saw the best looking one in our garage. I like the color green!

    Welcome!

One day when returning home in Sweetie's car and the sun was pouring down, it did actually look silver. So I guess the silver does belong in the name, but the Pine should come first.

Saw a couple of SPM's on my trip from WI home to TN.

Here is a poll for all of you SPM Clubbers:

Silver Pines are dioecious. Does this mean each of our cars should properly be considered either male or female? For those SPMers who have named your cars, do you know whether your SPM Prius is male or female?

    Share . . .

To save you the effort of gaining the Wikipedia knowledge that I received in a brief search, dioecious flora are those species whose individual plants produce either male flowers (pollen only, no seeds) or female flowers (seeds, no pollen). I'm certain we have biologists who can better explain, but c'mon, this poll is just for fun and enjoyment, and because I just had to find out more about the origins of the name of this color.

The silver pine mica is the only color the Prius comes in. All the rest are a mistake. (LOL)

    Lightning is male.

His personal add read "Young single SPM male looking for high MPG single SPM female who enjoys Pulse and Glide, long read trips and entertaining humans.

I mentioned this once before, way back a few months, but we also have a Silver Pine Mica '07 Touring and on ALL the Dealer's paperwork he wrote (everyplace it asked for vehicle color) "Silver Pine Mica"....... so what does the vehicle's REGISTRATION as well as TITLE come back as a color?? SILVER and not GREEN, so if we get stopped by a cop he (or she) will see on the registration "silver" and wonder why we are in a light, metallic GREEN vehicle??

I ordered my SPM in June of 2006. I could have had any color I wanted but fell in love Sweatpea. My son bought the Driftwood Pearl and this year my husband bought the Seaside Pearl. A friend of mine went and bought one the same as mine. It never looks dusty or dirt. I get so many compliments on the color. Of course my chest puffs out with pride. The only problem is if I have to use a reg. car!!! It takes a few minutes to remember how to drive it. :D Love, Love. Love this car!!!!

"Sweatpea"? OK. Here's hoping your lovely Prius reminds you of the beautiful and sweet-smelling flowering vine Sweet Pea. With that said: Is your "SweetPea" male or female?

Add ours to the SPM list in Vero Beach, Florida. Actually didn't have a problem getting this color and option pkg #2. Ordered it on August 6 - found it on the ship near port, and received it from Bev Smith Toyota on August 16, all prettied up - except the lawn men blew nasty (green!) grass all over it before we picked it up at the dealer, and so they had to detail it all over again! Two detail jobs, with 2 miles on the odometer! Have over 500 miles on it already. Noticed on Tire Rack website that a number of owners of the Good Year OEM tires that it came with complained about early tire wear, and found that the front end was not aligned correctly. I noticed ours was wandering a little bit at higher speeds, and took it to the dealer to check - sure enough, toe in adjustment was out of specs - so check the wear pattern along the edge of those front tires . It tracks down the road much better now. My wife picked the SPM color, and glad she did so we can be a part of this club. Reminds me of my early years and owning a 1955 VW bug. In 1960 when I bought it used, there were so few of us that we would wave to each other as we cruised down the highways!

    Hi
How do I join the club? Just got my SPM on Friday. her name is "Fern". So far, I am totally in love with my car. Was getting 75 mpg for 15 min in stop and go on the freeway this am. Much better than my old RX300 I traded in!

She was my first choice color and I am so glad I didn't have to compromise and pick a different color.

Welcome! In a completely unofficial capacity (and from one rookie to another), I'd say you're "in" the SPM Club. I appreciate your designation of Fern as female, thus answering one of my open questions to SPM Club members (see my earlier post and the very few responses!)

Don't forget to check out the local forum on the Chicago Prius Group. Two of the PC moderators are from Chicagoland, and we also are home to the far-traveling, benevolent EBH installer, Fire Engineer.

    Thanks for the welcome!

Wrong Elk Grove though, I am in California's Elk Grove. Was originally from South of Chicago though (Parkwood).

Thank you for participating in the poll! Now: Would "Jelly Bean" be male or female? Ask your cousin to join up and give us the story behind the name.

Tomorrow, my SPM prius will be one week old. I named her G.G. or GiGi which stands for Green Goddess. I specifically looked for a SPM and it was hard to find one in a package 5 or higher...lots of silvers and blues out there, some rare Barcelona Reds which was another color I considered. I was lucky to finally find a dealer in town w/a package 6. Didn't really want leather, but didn't want to have to spend another week looking for another SPM. Glad I don't have to look at another color prius car wistfully, because I got the color I wanted!

Funny, prior to doing prius research, I had never even noticed this color on the road. Now it seems I see another SPM at least once a day on the road or parking lot.
