I went out and got #10 spring clips and screw for the end of the rear mud flap...took the wheel off only to find that the clip does not work at that end of the flap...how did you attach the screw, using a nut? Details please. Thanks.

Sorry, this won't answer your question because even though I went out and bought that "extra screw", after reading some postings and seeing pics that it looked like it would need it, I did not use it. The rear mud guards went on so perfectly, "snug as a bug", it required no additional screws.

I didn't use any additional screws on my install either. They have been on for many months now and I have not had one problem.

The screws and clips provided did the job perfectly.
The rear mudflaps attach to the rear bumper don't they?

No, not even close to the rear bumper.

As I stated before, I chose not to use an additional screw and mine are very secure without it.

Perhaps you could have told me what you rear mudflap attaches to if not the rear bumper?

I find the mudflaps are quite secure as the clips provided clamp over the rear bumper front lip and the screws pass through the front edge of the bumper.

If you back into or over a high curb the mudflaps will tear off regardless of how secure they are, just if you make them more secure they may damage something in the process.

The same clips you used but it doesn't attach to the rear bumper. It attaches to the inner fender well.

That is not the rear bumper. It is the rear quarter panel.

The diagonal line at the top of the left picture is the point where the rear quarter panel joins the rear bumper. The mudflap attaches to the rear bumper. It is one continuous plastic moulding which wraps around the rear of the vehicle below the tail lights and the rear hatch, where I come from we call that the bumper but you may call it a rear quarter panel, I don't know? Here the rear quarter panel is fron the C pillar down, across the top of the rear wheel and down as low as the rear bumper or the bottom or the rear wheel arch IF the bumper does not wrap right around to the wheel arch.

In this image you can see the rear bumper is one piece and wraps from the rear wheel arch across the rear of the vehicle, you can see the mudflap attached to the bumper and the rear quarter panel above the bumper end to the front of the tail light.

Bumper/quarter panel/wheel well...who cares about the semantics as long as everyone understands the location.

    You're right.
Either way if the mudflaps are installed per the instructions and with the hardware provided in the pack they are an excelent fit and quite sturdy. There is no need for extra screws.

No semantic involved here. It is plain and simple, in no way does it attach to the rear bumper. The panel that wraps around the bumper is NOT the bumper.

Did you need to remove the tires to install them? We just received ours in the mail and DH will do the work but just looking at the car it doesn't look like there is much room to work with the tires on.

The front wheels turn and make enough room to install those without removal.
The rear are much easier to install by removeing the wheels...it's not difficult and you'll finish the entire project in 15-20 minutes if you have a good jack, maybe 30 min with the jack in the car.

No need to remove the rear wheels - I did it this way
    1. Pick a spot and drill a hole on the bottom of the mudflap, close to the innermost edge (i.e. the edge closest to the exhaust pipe)
    2. Put the mudflap in place (don't screw it in yet), and mark the location of the hole you drilled on the mudflap, on the black plastic wheel well.
    3. Drill a hole on the wheel well where you marked it - depending on the size of your drill, it will have to come in at an angle, but this does not matter: you just need a hole there with the rough same size as the screw.
    4. Attach the mudflap.

The advantage I see is that the mudflaps are secured to the car at three points which are spread further apart, giving it more stability. I wasn't happy with the OEM hole location for the bottom screw. Saved me from removing the rear wheels, too.
