    Hi All:

I have some queries about the actual Invoice price and the price offered when going through Costco Auto Buying program.
What is the invoice price of the Prius without any option packages? Does the invoice price contain TDA (Dealer Advertising)?
Is there an official invoice accompanying a vehicle from the Toyota when the vehicle is delivered to the dealer?
If anyone has approached any dealer through the Costo Auto Buying program what price was offered?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks

We bought our Prius through Costco in May. At the time the price was simple: $500 over invoice. We got a package #1, he showed me the invoice price, added $500 on to it, and away I went.

When I went in to pick up the license plates a month later the same salesperson told me that the Costco price was now $500 below sticker, since they were running out of the 07 model.

i ordered the consumers report car price service for the 2008 prius and suggest you do the same, it has all the dealer invoice prices for packages, destination chgs, incentives etc...for your info the invoice w/o packages is $20,771 according to the report.

    Hi John,

Does the above price include destination charge?

    Thanks

    ldfat1,

What does the Consumer Reports Car Price Service state the Dealer invoice cost of an '08 Touring with package #6 is? I'm curious as to how it stacks up against Cars.com and Edmonds.com dealer invoice pricing.

    Cars.com shows dealer invoice for '08 Touring w/Pkg #6 of $25,728.

The edmunds.com invoice pricing is accurate for the base car and the options packages, but it does not include delivery, which is $660 here. When I was negotiating, (got them down t0 750 over invoice the week before last, and still walked) the dealer had 2 items on there which they couldnt explain once was 500 and the other was 300. I told them I wouldnt pay for those if they couldnt tell me what they were, so it was a deal breaker. I think the more expensive one was the tma price or something simular as mentioned above.

bottom line, get the edmunds breakdown of invoice cost and add the destination charge for your area. Then when they show you the invoice, you will know what it is SUPPOSED to be.

I don't have an answer for you but am interested in seeing other replies. We attempted to use the program recently for a pkg 2, either 2007 or 2008. The one (and only) dealer we were referred to wouldn't discuss any numbers over the phone, although she said it would be "minimal" savings under msrp due to the fact it's a Prius. I was really hoping to get all the info & work out a deal by phone/internet since the dealer wasn't very close. Is that normal when using the Costco program?

I had zero luck getting any dealers to ever give me a price over the phone or internet using either the Costco program or a couple of the 'get quotes' internet websites. Never could get a quote, even after several email and a few calls in some cases. I think the local market makes a difference, or I just didn't have the patience to put in more than a couple hours. I ended up using Costco to get $500 under MSRP (if I had taken one off the lot rather than order up a Touring, I may have been able to get $900 under).

I think they will offer you less than current price (could be $500). The best site is truecar.com. It gives you some idea about the price.

    All the best!
