Today, I received a survey from J. D. Powers asking about what I thought about NAV on my 2007 Prius.
But from the questions, I gather they are rating and comparing all factory installed NAV systems.

I was dissapointed in Toyota's compared to my Garmin NUVI360 portable Car GPS, so I let them know.

Here is the survey and my responses, if anyone is interrested.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 660. The Toyota NAV is terrible and I let them know it on my survey. Maybe Toyota will read that and fix the issues in a future release.

Will be interested to see how others responded to this survey...

We are both in the same situation. I bought the Garmin NuVi about 6 months before I bought the Prius with NAV, and I have never seen any advantage that the Toyota NAV has over it.

I am not aware that Toyota has one of my favorate NuVi features, find POI near my current route. With this, if you are already planning on driving from point A to point B, and like today, I wanted to drop by a Post office along the way, I entered POI, Near Current Route, and then Post Office, and it gives the full list of Post Offices arranged by distance from any point along the route.

I started trying to enter this into the Toyota GPS, but don't know of it having this feature, so I reached down to the drawer on the front of the center console where I keep my Garmin NuVi 360, and up on the windshield it goes.

I keep thinking that if I read the 250 or whatever page Toyota GPS manual, I will find it does more, but the Garmin's 20 or so page manual seems like a good feature for all the features it has.

    Can you say Intuitive?

I got the email about the survey - wanted to know how I liked the NAV system in 2007 Prius - WHICH I DON'T HAVE. I just deleted the email. (Maybe I should have told them that it is silent & invisible.)

:p We use Garmin 680s and are very pleased. Use dashboard mount and bluetooth capability with cellphone. Plus, we can run the sound through the Prius speakers if needed. After listening to Toyota users, I think we made the right decision to go with Garmin.
