    Yyyyyyyyyyyikes!

Does anyone have any hard information concerning when this LSC is supposed to start? IOW, shouldn't all dealers have been notified by now?

A guy from the parts department contacted me earlier and said, "...yeah, i'm calling about the update......that will be $260". [IMG]

I told him about the LSC but he hadn't heard of it. He said he would call me back after he 'did some research'. Considering letters to customers should be arriving this week, I assumed dealers would have known about this campaign already. Either that or my dealer is just clueless.

Just returned from my dealer....Tammy, the Service Writer glanced at the copy of the LSC that I had printed from this Topic, asked my name, accessed my file on the computer, said the new DVD would be in Thursday, and told me to drop by any time to have it installed, all in less than 2 minutes. Now that is what I call friendly and efficient Service! 8)

BTW, I did not receive a letter, just dropped in.

Not sure how competent that dealer is, but I can say that up until I did a little research of my own - I didn't know the bulletin existed. We get so many bulletins and updates thrown at us that it gets overwhelming at times.

I will say that Toyota waits till the very last minute to notify us on these kinds of issues.

I just checked with the service manager and was told he got his notifications through the mail late morning today. Kinda sucks when the consumer knows before the dealer does. I am not making excuses... just letting you know we are not clueless :? at the dealer level on purpose. :)

    Eddie,

Don't feel bad, you would not believe how often that same thing happens to doctors where stuff (usually somewhat garbled) comes out in the national press before it is generally available to review in the professional journals!!

I dropped into Frank Lloyd Wright (sp?) Toyota in Scottsdale, AZ (near work) to get this rolling. The guys didn't know about it, but wanted me to come back Wed. to have their tech do a glance over before ordering parts. I explained that I felt that was a waste of my time since they had already validated that my car qualified for the update - and that it's simply a DVD replacement. They're going to place the order tomorrow (their computers are down?) and we'll see where it goes from there.

Also on the list for the fuel TSB - they order the parts w/o keeping the car (per Toyota's request since the car isn't in a dangerous state ??)

Well, I had to call back since no one at the dealership ever did.

As it turns out, they won't order the DVD before they actually look at the car. Like htmlspinnr, I said that was a waste of time but the service writer insisted that was the only way they'd be able to order the "part".

Anyway, I'll be stopping by the dealer tomorrow afternoon in order to waste a few minutes of my time and theirs.

Went to Toyota this afternoon...they were totally unaware of a nav update, however, the service tech decided to call lexus across the alley, and low and behold, they have been doing nav updates on the lexus vehicles for a while now...so he said it would take a week to get disk...so therefore im scheduled in for nov 22...he was appreciative of the PDF that i printed up on the scenerio, he made copies and gave it to the mgmt so they would not be caught off guard when the requested come rolling in...

It'll be more than a few minutes for me. My dealer is all the way across town, about a 25-mile trip (fastest route) from where I live now.

I'd line up a bunch of stuff to do at once, but the fuel thing is too complicated to deal with now, and the engine compartment one must not include me for some unknown reason...

Are you saying that your dealer is also demanding to physically inspect your car before they will order the DVD?

Personally, I think such a request is unreasonable considering it's a simple matter of typing a VIN on a web site and they already have all my information (name, address, and VIN). I mean I bought the car at the joint, for the love of God!

Hopefully even if you didn't. Though I seem to have be in some weird space time continuum. I got a letter from my local dealer yesterday saying thanks for buying my Prius there and if I can't answer the Toyota survey positively, I should call him because they want satisfied customers. All well and good, but I bought it 130 miles away in NH because they came up with a car first!

I did buy a bottle of touch up paint from them. And I had to have my VT state inspection done there as the local gas station didn't have the proper equipment. Somewhere in there, they missed the fact that they had cut me a check returning my deposit. Maybe I'll get "preferred customer because he bought it here" attitude. :)

Could someone scan in a post a downloadable version of their letter here in case other dealers feel moved to charge a parts fee?

I just had my 15K Service yesterday. They changed the Nav DVD without telling me. The Service receipt shows that the TSB was done. And I did not even receive the notification letter yet.

This is great. I am sorry I missed it earlier. No sign of a letter here. How did someone get the mail merge or did they just retype it?

Remind those that want to do the inspection, etc. etc. that they're only being paid for .2 hours.

Yes, I most certainly did remind them of the .2 hours when I stopped in.
Due to the utter lack of information at this dealership, I strongly suspect they're more concerned with ordering a DVD and then not having a customer willing to pay $260 for it.

Unfortunately, the service manager told me TIS was down and they couldn't even verify what needed to be done so the DVD could be ordered (free of charge to the dealership, of course). They never even bothered to look at the car; a complete and utter waste of time.

I got the same response, thier computers were down - so I'm guessing the TIS outage was nation-wide. Having 2 people in diff. regions reporting that probably verifies that.

Called my dealer yesterday after reading about this. The service guy is great there and respects my input from this website. He looks forward to learning more about the car from me since Toyota doesn't tell them anything. Anyways, got mine ordered. He looked it up and verified the service campaign and my VIN number. Just have to wait for the disk to come in.
