2001 Transaxle Replacement

    Anyone out there had to have a transaxle replaced on a 2001 Prius? Mine is at 91K and the dealer is telling me it will cost almost $5K for a rebuilt transaxle. Ouch!

    What would a new transaxle cost?

    part $3500
    labor 5-6 hours

    and that's provided their diagnosis is correct.
