Bluetooth and Tero

    :blink: Anyone have Tero (by Palm) working with their bluetooth connection in their car?

    When I was shopping for my new Prius, (I've about a week ago) the Toyota.com car salewomen within 10 seconds managed to get the Prius I test drove to recognize my phone (Tero 680), and I made 2 calls while I was testing driving the car. I was impressed.

    I purchased a different Prius (same salesperson and dealership) and we had all lots of trouble getting my new Prius to find my Tero using the bluetooth connection (I had 4-5 sales people all trying to help).
    Lucky I brought my Tero from the cell phone right next door to the Toyota.com dealer and the guy from the Cingular store (now AT&T) got in my car and was able to get the blue tooth to connect. He did by having enter the password as you would a phone number and it made the connection. I've been using my Tero directory to make out going calls, and then the car bluetooth kicks in.

    When I was in the service dept. getting state inspection sticker for my new car, I asked the service Prius specialist for assistance with my bluetooth connection. He looked up my phone on www.LetsTalk.com website and my phone was not listed. Would it help to email these guys?

    Anyone have any ideas on how I can sync my Tero 680 (by Palm) phone directory into the Prius so I can use bluetooth to call out?

    I managed to manually enter 3 numbers in 1 in speed dial and 2 in the address book. I could use some advice. java script:emoticon(':blink:', 'smid_7')

    You may need to trade in your Tero 680 for a Treo 700P. I have a Treo 700P and Bluetooth works fine.

    By the number of replies I received, I think there may not be many Tero owners on this list.
    I had Treo 600, I upgraded to the Treo 680 in Jan 2007 (just out then).
    I looked up Treo 700, I don't see the any changes that would make a difference.
    Toyotta.letstalk.com, does NOT list any phones / PDA's by Palm (only the Blackberrys).

    Did you get your Treo directory to sync with your car? Did you just use the instruction in the manual?

    There are subtle differences in how Bluetooth is implemented in each cell phone (even within model ranges such as Treo 600 vs. 680 vs. 700). Unfortunately, the cell phone market is in such turmoil (product obsolescence seems to be less than 12 months - the extreme case is probably Apple's iPhone (prices dropped before the product was out 1 year)) that the only way to know for sure whether your phone is compatible with the Bluetooth implementation on the Prius is to check all features before you buy.

    I was able to sync (pair) my Treo 650 with bluetooth in my 2007 Prius. The key is the firmware version in the phone. I'm assuming your newer Treos (the 680, 700 and 755) have the updated firmware.

    Find the firmware version in the phone as follows: Open the phone screen. Then go into the options menu and press Phone Info. Look to see if you have firmware version 1.05a-VZW. The 'VZW' is for Verizon.

    I don't know about pairing a Tero 680 to the Prius, but I have a Treo 680 and it pairs with out a problem.

    Thank you for posting that you also have Treo 650 with bluetooth connected to your 2007 Prius.
    I was thinking I was the only one out there.
    I do have the handsfree working / connecting (no thanks to Toyota dealer or Toyotta.letstalk.com website).

    I did check my Treo 650 - "Firmware: R01.31" (my carrier is AT&T).
    That seems higher then 1.05a version, but I don't know.

    The harder question, did you get your Treo directory to sync with your car?
    Did you just use the "Export to SIM" option, under Treo directory?
    All mine does is hang on the Transferring screen.

    I have a treo 680 and the bluetooth works superbly. My battery strength and signal strength show up on the MFD display. It works great.

    Wow, now I know there are at least 3 of us that are using Treo in their Prius. That is great news! :D
    It was very discouraging to see NO phones / PDA's by Palm listed as supported on Toyotta.letstalk.com website. Again the harder question, have you tried to export your Treo directory to your Prius telephone directory via bluetooth.
    If so, how did you do it?

    I too have a Treo 650 (Verizon). When pairing, I also get the situation where the Treo says that pairing is complete but the Prius is still waiting. Making a call from the Treo makes the Prius connect and everything is fine.

    Here's how to transfer your entire phone book from the Treo to the Prius:
    1) On the Prius, press "Info" (hard button) then "Telephone" then "Phone Book" then "Transfer" then "No Group".
    2) On the Treo, go into the contacts list, select category "all" (at the top), then press the options hard key and select "Send Category".
    3) For "Send with", select "Bluetooth" and hit "OK".
    4) Select the device name of the Prius (probably "HANDS FREE") and hit "OK".
    At least on my 650, that does it.

    I now have my Treo phone directory transferred to my car.
    (I have over 1000 entries in Treo 680, have some clean up to do)
    Now I don't have to use my Treo to call people in my directory when I'm in my car.)

    I could not find these instructions any where else. I tried several other ways to transfer but none were successful. You’re my hero - I love this list.
