new Hummer H3 Alpha (w/V8 instead of inline 5)

    I just heard about the above on an old ep Motorweek piled up on my TiVo. I looked up EPA estimates and it's a whopping 13 city/16 highway, 14 combined per the new MY 2008+ system. Under the old system, it's a whopping 14/17, 15 combined.

    Sheesh!

    Hummer had to do this. With the inline 5, people were smoking H3's on the dragstrips with Prii! This really embarrassed Hummer owners.

    Now it is only marginally faster...

    Bet my Camry Hybrid will smoke it even with the V8.

    OOps! Breaking news! Just in! GM is now going to put in the new 2009 Corvette ZR1's supercharged V8 with 600 horsepower. Now it will beat a Camry! :D

    At this past weekend's Elgin, IL Alternative Fuel Vehicle show, I was talking with a group of guys who were showing their Model A and Model T Fords. I asked what their mileage was. "I only tracked it seriously once but it was around 21 MPG."

    Imagine that. 100 years ago a car could drive 21 miles per gallon.

    I would imagine that the mileage on a Model A is very dependent on the driver's skill and attention to continually adjusting the ignition timing via the lever provided on the steering column. :lol:

    I saw that! It looks great! Was looking at an H2, but might look at that, although the h3 is a bit small inside.

    But the H3 needed a real motor, the base motor was a joke. Just need to see if it can tow our boat like our Rover can (edit - just looked, yes 6000# towing, it can tow our boat comfortably).

    15 combined mpg. Pretty good. About my my Rover gets...with over twice the power of my rover. What a deal!!
