It's been 3 weeks since I decided to buy a Prius. I have very little patience for delayed gratification. I want my Prius NOW! (I know; waiting is probably good for my soul or psyche or whatever.) Anyway, I'm wondering if there are any 2005 Salsa Red Prius option package #6 owners out there in the Los Angeles area. If you're one of them, could you please tell me:

    1) How long did you wait?
    2) Which dealership did you buy it from?
    3) Did you have to pay over MSRP? If so, how much?

Apparently your car is in Effingham, IL and available right now, per this PriusChat link.

Speaking of "delayed gratification" I parked my Salsa Red AM at a city parking meter in downtown LA last month . . . it felt good not having to pay for parking due to LA's new law allowing hybirds to park for free . . . until I got back to the car and found a ticket for an expired meter!!!!! Gratification was delayed till this week when LA Parking voided the ticket.

I waited 1 year and three months. I'll let you in on something though, Call Sierra Toyota in Lancaster and ask for LIllian Holland. She will have one for you very quickly. Make sure you tell her that Robert Leslie told you to call and mark my word, you will have your Prius, at MSRP, they don't mark up, no more than a month after you talk to her...

    Phone # on that website

This is unbelievable! I called Sierra Toyota and spoke with Lillian Holland. She assured me that she could get me what I wanted very quickly. Ten minutes later, she called me back to tell me she HAS what I want. I've just sent in my credit application, and I should be getting my Salsa Red 2005 Prius, Option package #6 NEXT WEEK!!!. Wow! I'm in shock!

Lancaster, CA, is certainly closer to Venice, CA, than Effingham, IL.

It sounds as if she did a quick trade of allocations with another dealer.

    Good for you.

When I originally spoke with her, she said they had just gotten one in and sold it yesterday. It turns out that the deal fell through because the buyer didn't have a good enough credit rating. She hadn't realized that it had fallen through until she talked with her manager about my order. I guess my timing was perfect! Apparently, they allocate cars differently at their dealership than at others. She told me how they do it, but I didn't quite understand.

Yes, Lancaster is definitely closer than Illinois! Though it's still about 2 hours away. I think she said she could ship it out to me for a couple of hundred dollars. Given all I'm spending, that's worth it to me.

It's just under an hour from the 405/101 interchange. I don't think that it will take you an hour to get to that point. Without traffic, we make it to LAX from there in 25 minutes.

I drove 70 miles to pick mine up. The thought of someone else driving it for that distance to deliver it was not very appealing to me.

I put down a deposit on Oct 27, 2004. On Nov 19, the car was in. It's a white with package 6. I'll decide tonight if I want it.
