Rearward and forward visibility improved once I pivoted both joints on the inside rear view mirror. I press with my thumb all the way upward on the connecting mirror support, then pivot just the mirror itself downward to vertical.

AFAIK, 2004 was the last model year for both.

Taurus will be sold for fleets only, until demand for the Five Hundred picks up. Good luck on that.

I'm confused. Is the Ford Fusion supposed to replace the Taurus and the Five Hundred to repace the Crown Vic? or is it similar to the Escort/Mystique where the Focus replaced both and hence the Five Hundred replaces both and somehow the Fusion will fit in...

Here's a story about the Prius driver's seat may be of interest.

I'm 5' 8", late fifties, and disabled because of back problems. (Degenerative disease in the two lowest discs in my back, two more in my neck, and one last disc in my mid-chest region just for fun.) So, uncomfortable seats are a constant in my life.

My pre-Prius car was a '98 Subaru Forester. Toward the end it was all I could do to drive ten minutes before the pain became unbearable. Then I test drove the Prius and, to my amazement, it was comfortable! In fact, the more I drove it the better it felt. I was crushed when they said I had to wait 9 months for delivery.

But luckily, another buyer backed out of his deal, so I got mine in 3 months, and it's been just great! Recently I had to see a doctor whose office is a 2 hour drive each way, with a mountain range in between (the Siskiyou's). I've made the drive twice now, with no problem. (Maybe I should order an additional drivers seat to put in my living room, right next to my electric massage chair.)

The Five Hundred looks more like a Taurus replacement to me. The Five Hundred is front wheel drive and has a V6 standard, while the Crown Vic is RWD and has a V8 standard, and is a foot longer than the Five Hundred.

The Fusion is a replacement for the Contour, which ended production in 2000, leaving Ford with no mid-size sedan for the last four years.

That's what it looks like to me, who knows what the Ford marketing folks are thinking.
