ohh man... so it's still a December delivery? oye.

Well if it's any consolation, I haven't seen any 08 Priuses on the west coast either so we're not stealing them :p.

Yep. Still December. But I'm okay with that, 'cause I get to have my lower car payments (leasing the Impala, but owning the Prius) until December. By then, my Christmas shopping will be done. ;-)

That's okay, I would never accuse you of stealing out on the West Coast. Except maybe the nice weather. It went down to 2 last night. And now it's raining. Brr!

Thanks for being my personal patience counselor in this trying time. LOL.

I am waiting on a 2008 Magnetic Grey B package Prius. My partner had been suggesting that we buy a Hybrid car when we were talking about a new car to replace our '98 Honda Civic. I poo pooed that at first but after reading various articles and checking out Consumer Reports, thought I would check out the Prius. I went to our local Toyota dealer here in Kingston and by chance they had three 2006 used (formerly rental) Prii there. The used Prius that I drove was great and I felt a hybrid would be good.
We went to buy one on July 23 thinking that we would get it before our trip to the Maritimes in the end of August. I didn't like the used Driftwood Pearl that were there and my partner didn't like the used Silver Pine Mica that was also there and the Red one that was there was sold. We also didn't think the asking price of $26,000. for the used cars with about 40,000 km. was reasonable so decided to get a new one. We did the paperwork with the sales rep. and would have bought a 2007 model with a B package in Magnetic Grey, Red, or Silver if they could find one for us in the area. Well, we learned that patience is a virtue. No 2007's were to be found and we have a tentative date of arrival at the dealership of Oct. 19th. With a few days added on for dealer prep. we might have the car in the week of Oct. 22. It is exciting to be getting a new Prius and the wait has been long but not as long as I have read others have waited. So soon, hopefully, we will have our new car.

Not only dad, by ordering a 2008, you got a better deal because of the price drop and extra equipment (Touring stuff.. like the larger wheels and spoiler and sport suspension).

Your MSRP is $32,280 or sth like that. I paid $34k for my 05 and I don't have bluetooth, a backup camera, the new JBL speakers or the Touring stuff.

I think I'm starting to get on my partner's nerves with the anticipation. Since he doesn't have a driver's license, he doesn't get any choice on the car that I buy, with the exception of setting a budget...

I hope you get yours when expected. Make sure to post some pictures for us and let us see it in all its shiny glory!

I ordered my '08 Canadian Special Edition with Premium Package in Magnetic Grey on October 4 with an expected delivery in January. I've just been informed delivery is now mid-November. Looking forward to putting all the knowledge I've gleaned from PC to use! Off to HD to buy pipe insulation...

    Cheers,

    Geoff

PICTURES, PICTURES !!!! SHARING IS FUN!!

We have our new 2008 Magnetic Grey Prius. We ordered it on July 23th and picked it up on Wednesday Oct. 24th. Three months and a day of waiting for it but the wait was more than worth it. I felt like a groom going to an arranged marriage as we had seen and test drove a 2006 but we our first look was when we went to pick it up. I have over 600 Km. on it already and am very pleased with the ride and its fuel economy. I want to get the 3M Clear Paint Protection for the front so I had better get at it. Best wishes to all who are waiting eagerly for their car to come.

    Rob

Great photo, Rob. I'm expecting the same car in two weeks. Just curious: There's been some suggestion on PriusChat that the Canadian '08 Special Edition may have the touring suspension, but my dealer can't confirm it. What did you find, suspension-wise?

    Cheers,

    Geoff

    Hello Geoff,

I can't tell you much about the suspension except that the ride is very firm and the car handles well as I drove it on the weekend.
In the 2008 Brochure, which I got a while back while dreaming of the delivery of our car, it says "Front: Independent, MacPherson Gas Struts, Stabilizer Bar. Rear: Torsion Beam Type, Stabilizer Bar." It doesn't say anywhere as far as I can see that the suspension is a Touring Suspension.

Is there any way of seeing from looking under the car that it is a Touring Suspension?

Have fun when you get the car. It is indeed a great car to drive.

    Rob

Congrats! It's looking really slick. I'm still waiting for mine (the one at the beginning of the thread). I'm expecting to get a VIN in a short two weeks. EEP!

    Hey Geoff,

Don't be sorry, be happy! We have two of the most beautiful Prii in Ontario and I am sure others wish they had one like ours. I waxed the Prius on Sunday which makes it shine very nicely though it was a hard job trying to buff the wax off in some of the tiny spots and crevices around the car. I am not one of those people who religiously cleans and waxes cars but I am turning over a new leaf with having a new car.

How do you like the ride and do you think we Canadians are getting a touring suspension with our B package Prii?

Just got off the phone with the dealer. My Prius arrived in the Port in Vancouver over the weekend and is clearing through Customs as we speak (today's a day off for the public service) and then it is being thrown onto a train for the cross-country trip to Ottawa.

He gave me the VIN today, and said they were given a delivery date of November 26, plus or minus two days to accomodate for customs delays and transportation. A full three weeks earlier than expected!

    *GLEE*

The excitement level has just been ramped up another 300%.
