I can't seem to find a way to see my IPod song titles & artists on the info screen, change the song and scroll through playlists with the steering wheel controls, is this possible?

You can't find a way because the feature does not exist. The aux plug takes exact two pieces of information, audio signal for the left channel and audio for the right channel. Did your dealer suggest otherwise?

I've met at least one dealer who managed to confuse himself (and I'm sure many potential buyers) about "you can control song selection from the steering wheel (from CD-DA and WMA/MP3 CDs)" with "you can plug your iPod into the AUX connector".

I do wondery why Toyota hasn't offered factory iPod integration, though; the closest they have are the Pioneer options in Scions. If things work out well, I'll likely put a VAIS unit into my wife's RAV-4.

Will the Ipod intergration unit Intergate into the 2007/8 prius and the touch screen nav system? Will I get the song titles with that setup?

The DICE iPod integration unit does exactly what you're looking for. It outputs the information like this:

And you can get it through the PC Shop and help support PriusChat!

    http://priuschat.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/66

tkil - the RAV4 is also compatible with the DICE and you'll find that it's cheaper than the VAIS unit. But, if you want the VAIS, I can get one of those for you, too.

So what is the jack in the console for if it isn't for your ipod? You can listen to your ipod through that jack but can't control it with the steering whell or see song info? I didn't get to play with the jack when I test drove the car as I didn't have my ipod or an adapter with me.

If I get the DICE (which I don't have the car yet), can I still use that port, or do I need to install my ipod somewhere else, like the glove box.

The jack in the armrest is an AUX-in port. You can plug your iPod or any other piece of equipment with an audio-out port into that port, then hit the "DISC" button twice and you'll now be using the AUX input. However, the AUX input does not show any text information, it is only for passing through audio. You'll see a screen like the one below and that's it. No control via the steering wheel controls, only through the actual iPod itself.

With the DICE, you'll have Text on the MFD screen showing you the title, Album, etc. You'll also have control over the iPod using the steering wheel controls.

The DICE integration kit is completely separate and will not have anything to do with the factory aux port. You can choose to install it near the glove box or the center console.

It's amazing to me how Apple and Ipod has complete transformed people's perception of the music and the consumer electroncs industry. I can't tell you how many people come up to me and tell me Apple invented the mp3 player. Mp3 players have been around long before iPod was created. And the aux port which is short for auxilary has been around since the phonograph. Providing an input to take an analog music signal costs prob a few cents more to implement on a car radio. To provide custom UI to allow user to control iPod's proprietary signal is a completely different game. I know Apple has managed to grab the majority of the market in terms of mp3 players but some of us still play music through our smartphones or mp3 player of other brands.

I have an '07 package 3 - (jbl audio and BT). Considering the DICE but was wondering if it interfaces with the BT - Does the ipod automatically pause when the phone is used?

    Thanks,

I just had the DICE unit installed that I bought throught the PriusChat group buy. So far so good. I can see on the display on my 2005 Prius title and Artist and can move up and down to the next song however I don't think you can see or change playlists? I don't see anyway to change anything else (other than volume). It would be nice if you could see a list of songs and pick from that list, change playlist and have other ipod like control.

Does anyone know if there is a prius button combo that would allow the "audio" screen to stay put? I've noticed that if you are playing the ipod or cd or radio for that matter after you push the "audio" button to display the audio info it automaticly reverts to another screen after a few seconds. Anyway to change this?

By the way I really like the Dice unit so far. The installer also said it was a no brainer to install. The install only cost me $75.00 bucks so if you use the group buy price on the Dice you end up with a great up date for not too much money!

My '07 package 3 also has an xm radio. Will the DICE unit still interface with the factory head unit?

    Thanks,
    Roger

On the 2005 at least D(isk) 1 changes the songs within a playlist and D2 changes the playlist. You can't see the names, but what I did was go to a site that can create a WAV file from text. I entered the name of the paylist, created a WAV file and put that at the top of that playlist. That way I can hear what playlist I come to. Also, since I've named the WAV file the name of the playlist I can see the name on the MFD. That trick I learned on this site.

On my 2005 you go to the MENU then SETTINGS. There's a button that turns the automatic return on and off.

The DICE and VAIS both have a "Y" connector. You plug one end into the radio, one into the DICE (or VAIS) and the remainder into the XM connector.

I bought the Dice for my 07 and they have some bugs that make it shut down after playing it for a bit. Drove down to the LBC and they ran some test on it with my car and they are working on getting the bug worked out.

You must be the gentleman who was here while I was out for surgery. Whatever unique error you car was producing was fixed today. Contact the person you were dealing with and we can setup a swap.

I pods can be a tad tempermental. Have any quirks been noticed after using them through the DICE Unit either while connected or after?

Not really, no. I have an 05 and an 07. Both are behaving. Quirks can arise in random cars.

Are you sure it was Adam? We've been at lunch for the past few hours. It wasn't Zoltan maybe? PM me your full name so I can be certain that you get the new one.
