Does the 2005 come with free maintenance for 3 years? The 2001 came with free maintenance, oil changes and the like for 3 years. I got the impression from reading msgs here that was still the case. I asked the dealer and he said no.

I just recently picked up my 2005 Salsa Red and was told that regular maintenance is not included...and the sales rep said he was aware that it had been included in prior years (did not specify which years, though). To me that is okay...I llike the routine maintenance stuff.....an excuse to spend more time with the car.

    Sorry Gentlemen -
The 04s and 05s do NOT include free service. Make sure you link up with a dealer who has some actual experience with the new models.
    Happy Thanksgiving.

if you go to consumer report, it tells you that at least 04 prius comes with 30 months or (5 times) free maintenance service...

That's ok with me as well. I did the maintenance on our first Prius even though it was included. I was going to take advantage of the free maintenance this go. probably for the better. I wonder if they received too many complaints...

actually some 04's do provide some services but that is not a Toyota policy, its a dealer policy. i got a package for service included with my car and thought it would be good for others so i sent a buddy there. but he was told the package was limited offer only to those who bought from that specific dealer.

although he argued to his hearts content, the dealership is apparently well within their rights to offer the service to only vehicles sold at their establishment. the package was offered for people because of the wait (mine was 5½ months)

It depends where in the world you are (assuming that PriusChat is not a US-only site).

In Belgium and Luxembourg the 2004/2005 Prius is being sold with 5 years free servicing included as a matter of course.

PriusChat is a global site which is primarily frequented by inhabitants of North America.

When I picked up my car last week the first thing the dealer gave me was
four oil changes and 24,000/ two year free maintainance with the purchase. Price paid MSRP. This was given to me buy the dealership not part of any Toyota package.

That would be nice if Toyota still gave the 2004/5 Prius free maintenance like the 2001/3. I believe the reason the 2001/3 got free maintenance was that Toyota wanted to really back up the reliability on such a new kind of car. Since Toyota has now proved that the Prius is even more reliable than the average Toyota, they don't need to offer free maintenance.

I also think it's interesting that in Daytona Beach, Daytona Toyota will give you a lifetime of oil changes if you buy your car there. I don't know why they do that other than they can't sell Toyotas as well in the south. That's my hypothesis since it seems every other car on the road in Daytona is an F-250 with a confederate flag on it and a "God Bless America" sticker...

To be honest, I think Toyota was giving the free maintenance so they could monitor how well the vehicles were hold up and getting other stats. Not saying anything was wrong with it, after all it should only make future models better. I could be way off base though.

I was disappointed when I found out the tires for life was only if I got ALL my maintenance from Sun Toyota (with reasonable exceptions, such as extended out of town service). That was a big selling point in the justification on the purchase of this car under my budget. Not to mention being lied to by the 'market value adjustment' of $3.9K
