2008 Package 3 & IPHONE

    Just bought the IPHONE. I had no problem at all getting it to work with my 2008 Package 3. The Prius gives you a 4 digit code. You put the number in the IPHONE. After maybe 2 minutes youre done. All contacts from the phone are transfered. Also connection is automatic every time you get in the car. My old Katana with Sprint would ask if it was ok to connect everytime. IPHONE and Prius is the way to go.


    Update 10/27/07

    I checked my phone book again and the contents were from my Katana not the IPHONE. IPHONE is paired and the old Katana phone book is in place. I tried to update but it appears there is no way for the IPHONE to push the data to the Prius. I hope they fix this with an update. Sorry everyone I thought it had worked. As someone said earlier that is the $64,000 dollar question. How do you get the IPHONE to push the contacts?

    Really? It automatically transferred the contacts? Wow... I can't even get it to sync contacts manually on my 2006. The phone doesn't seem to support Object Push Protocol, but it does support the Phonebook protocol. Sadly my 2006 (apparently) doesn't...

    I have a blackberry pearl, and it synced up and transferred contacts just as easily. :)

    I had a RAZR and had to put each entry in one at a time. I now have an iPhone which paired easily, I'll have to try an update...

    I paired my iPhone to my Prius bluetooth but don't know how to transfer my contacts. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks...

    That's the $64,000 question here. This is the first report I've seen of someone actually getting contacts to transfer from an iPhone. Since he indicated he's on a 2008 model, I thought I'd ask Toyota about it. Their response is that there's no difference between a 2006 and a 2008 bluetooth:

    SOCOM, can you tell us (to the best of your recollection) exactly how you got your contacts to transfer from the iPhone to the Prius?

    No Problem. I went to telephone, settings, Bluetooth. I removed my previous Sprint Katana phone. I then chose register. Prius gave me a 4 digit code that I entered in the IPHONE. After 2 minutes everything was done. I do not remember getting any messages at all once I entered the code in the IPHONE. When I checked the Prius all contacts were there. I have not tried to update them yet. Also I never get a paring successful or failed message every time I get in the car. The car just remembers the phone and it works not sure why. Before I bought IPHONE I called Toyota of Tampa Bay to see if the phone was compatible. They said they had never tried one on a 2008 and were of no help. Hope it works out for you.

    The contacts were stored in your car's phone book from a previous upload when the Katana was still paired to the car's system. The pairing of the iPhone to the car had nothing to do with the contents of the car's phone book.

    Oops. Darn, you had our hopes up! :)

    From what I've been able to determine, the iPhone DOES support the Bluetooth Phone Book Access Profile. But the Prius only supports the Object Push Profile, which the iPhone does NOT support. Technically, OPP is an older protocol, the PBAP is a newer better way to do it -- I blame the Prius for not supporting that protocol. But, OTOH, the iPhone *could* support both...
