interesting facts about the Prius used as a Taxi

    in my talks with Andrew he say's the car runs 22-23 hours a day. So thereby avoiding the one main killer of good gas mileage, the Cold Start. You might not think it's much of a hit but it takes about 4-5 minutes to get the cat converter up to temp and the ICE stabilised at a normal operating temp and this has a serious effect on the gas mileage. Shut the car off for 10 minutes and it stays running for quite a while till things return to nomal operating temp. Every time you do this mileage takes a hit.

    actually, i think 65-70 MPG in canada is the same as 65-70 MPG in the US.

    Uh, no. Those are Imperial gallons in Canada, about 20% larger than a US gallon. That's how the Prius has a 71mpg city rating in Canada.

    65 mpg Imp. =54.12 US gallon
    70 mpg Imp. =58.28 US gallon
    still not to bad for a car that runs all day long in downtown traffic.

    yup we use liters up here but most people still don't understand L per 100Km
    US gallon is 3.96 L and 100 KM is 60 miles.
