Hello. My question is: I have a 2005 Prius. Keyless entry. I'm often carrying a 2 year old. Is there any way to adjust the keyless entry system so that I can go directly to the back passenger side door and have it unlock when my hand touches the door handle, while my key fob stays in my pocket? I know I can go first to the front doors and open them... I also know I can use the fob to unlock the rear doors... But with a child in my arms, I want to walk up directly to the rear passenger side door, without taking the fob out of my pocket and open it. Is there a way to adjust the system to permit me to do this? Thank you.

If you set the FOB to open all the doors (the manual tells you how-- I can't remember off the top of my head), then all you have to do is touch the outside handle of the front door and all of the doors open. You don't actually have to open the front door-- touching the handle unlocks everything after you hear that chirp. I always put my shoulder bag in the back seat, and this is what I do too.

Unfortunately no. All you can do is change it so all doors open when you touch either front door handles.

There are no sensors in the rear passanger door handles.

Hit the unlock button on the key fob twice. The second time opens all doors. At least this is how it works on my o4.

If you are looking to enter through the rear passenger side door, then your only option is to place your hand on the passenger side front door handle to unlock all doors. You don't have to open the door, you only have to place your hand on the sensor. Once the doors are unlocked, then you can move to the rear passenger door and open it. It may be an extra step, but at least you don't have to reach for the key fob!

Do you love it when someone posted a thread and never came back here again?

Anyway, we can talk among ourselves. I love the fact that my friend's Lexus LS has Smart-key handle on all four doors. Someone could spend some time investigating this.
We would need a Lexus as a reference point to see what is missing in Prius.
If we are lucky, all we need may be
    - replacing rear door handles with front door ones (with touch pad, etc)
    - adding some control module interfaces inside the door (?)

Seems like a fun subject for modification.
