Where would one find the Toyota kit? So far all I can find is the SC-C1. There is mention of an adapter with model # TOY-SC1, but it is not available for sale yet.

Wait a moment...so this SC-C1 will work and it has 16 characters? You mention that you need to order the Toyota Kit...do you have a URL for that kit? I could not find one over at Directed Electronics website. I see the SC-C1 kit is about $50, so how much is the Toyota Kit?

Be nice if we got all the correct numbers for a complete kit!

If you search for it, it's not available yet. I will be ordering one when available.

Thanks. I wonder if this new hardware will work w/ the new services if/when XM and Sirius merge.

Yes, it will. It's looking pretty unlikely that the merge will happen thou :)

Doesn't sound like we will be seeing the elusive TOY-SC1 anytime soon. I'd like to enjoy my radio now. Anybody have any opinions/experience with the Soundlinq setup they recommend? Any reason I would want that over the solution offered by Metro other than the possibility of more characters?

    Thanks,
    Jim

I have pre-ordered the TOY-SC1 from Dog Star Radios, and according to them the first shipment should be mid-November. The reason I opted for the SC-C1 & TOY_SC1 combo is because the two units combined are $100. The other option is more than double. I'm willing to wait a few weeks and put the savings towards my new HDTV.

Apart from the 10 vs. 16 character limit, I'd be interested in knowing how the reception is.

Sirius broadcasts three feeds: a satellite feed, a 4 second delayed satellite feed, and a terrestrial feed (in certain areas). There's anecdotal information that the Toyota factory Sirius does not use the delayed feed, but only the other two. If I don't have a terrestrial feed and go under a bridge, I get a dropout. Receivers that use the delayed feed can fix up the dropout.

I didn't have this problem with a stand-alone Sportster 4 which definitely does use all three feeds. I would guess that the SC-C1 as a newer model would use all three.

This is what I am waiting to find out also. It drives me nuts driving to work & going under a number of overpasses......cuts out every time.

    It's 16 characters.

The memory buffer is excellent. It will pick up on all feeds.

    Don't ask how I know :x

Nothing against DogStar Radios but it IS mid-November and they aren't shipping yet. I hate to be a skeptic but I've seen a lot of vaporware and promises in my life. I'd like to know on what they base their optimism about when they will have something to ship. Such as a quote from Sirius or the manufacturer of the TOY-SC1 rather than a salesman who wants to keep me from buying something else.

I probably could have saved a few bucks waiting to buy my HDTV until now but have been enjoying it for the last couple of years and think it was worth the cost. If it was only about cost, I'd go dig out the couple of XM radios I tossed in a box in the garage because they were so bad. Right now all I want is to have an option to listen to something other than NPR.

Thanks Vagabond and others for replying to my query as to whether to go with factory versus Sirius' recommend of SoundLinq. If I'm interpreting your answer correctly, it seems that you think the SoundLinq option is better. Correct?

Yes, it should be. I've never used it personally, but just about anything is better than factory.

Just called my local dealer and they quoted me for the PTS31-53060 Reciever $277.50 and the PTS31-47060 Fit Kit $177.50 = $455 + tax. Rip Off...

I dont know who found the kit for $265 but thats low and without the fit kit and without installation. I dont know how hard the installation is but my dealer quoted me $820.00 for everything. Yeah right...

Maybe I'll just install my Stileto 10 with the dock and car kit and be done with it....

Factory Interactive looks like a little better of a deal...

The PriusChat store ($265) isn't clear if it includes the fit kit, but they don't offer it separately so I think it does. MetroTPN.com offers the receiver for $165 and the fit kit for $85 -- that's where I got it.

I have a 2008 Prius and I am confused by the options for Sirius radio, I'm reading about here.

I have a sportster but since the Prius built in radio is Sat ready, I want to buy the correct equipment so that I don't need my sportster any longer.

    What components do I need?

This is what I have been looking at: TSS Radio - Sirius interface

Any better deals to be found?
