One of the things that has struck me in reading along these many months is the number of things that differ from country to country. I've mused about why the variation, and what it might portend, but I've really only seen bits and pieces of the story.

I was wondering if anyone else was interested in a more definitive list of exactly what the differences are. That way maybe we can see a little more of Toyota's thinking. What do they think is desirable in each market and why? What is likely coming next in each market?

From what I've been able to gather, this is my first cut at the differences, and it's in no way guaranteed to be complete or correct, eh?

If you know more details or spot something I left out, please do holler.

And if anyone knows how to put TABS in to make the list line up let me know. It even seems to take out extra spaces I put in, hehe.

    Bladder Y N Y ? ?
    Thermos Y N Y ? ?
    EV Mode N Y ? Y ?
    Rear Disc N Y ? ? ?
    DRL N Y Y ? ?
    HID Y N N ? ?
    DSP N ? N ? ?
    Rear Fog N Y ? ? ?
    Park Assist N ? ? Y ?
    Park Mirror N ? ? Y ?

For example, in markets where there is no bladder or thermos, does that mean it's higher emission?

If there's a national legal requirement for DRL, is that what drives lack of HID availability?

Well, the old standby of underscores might help, since extra spaces get stripped...

Oh, make sure it's a fixed-width font, too...

The code formatting choice gives you monospaced fonts. Then just use a consistent number of spaces (or periods) in your list.

In a thread about the EV button, an Australian poster said that he had tried the EV button on his test drives.

One other option available in Europe (France at least) but not North America is a roof rack. See 2004 Prius accessesories . The URL has prius2003 in its name, but the picture is clearly a 2004.
