Sad but true. Trouble is you won't be long gone. The cost of this war is going to impact every American. We already see it in the value of the dollar dropping.

'I won't be here so who cares?' is a very selfish, short-sighted attitude.

This whole thing makes me physically sick. We are spending TRILLIONS of dollars for what? No matter how much money we throw away over there, those people will always hate Americans, no matter what..

Why not put all of that money for use repairing our OWN infrastructure such as repairing roads, bridges that are about to collapse, burying power lines, providing subsidized health insurance for those in need..etc...etc...

    What a waste.... :(

The Republican constituency believes they will be raptured soon .So why not run up the credit cards to the max?

We're probably just feeding the hate, actually, which is all the more ironic and maddening.

Yeah, thinking about what could have been done with those vast sums is enough to make anyone's head spin. How much would it have cost to just buy Iraq? No, I'm not really serious, but getting Alaska for $14 million from the Russians looks awfully cheap now, doesn't it?

And the Democratic consitituency believes spending most tax payer money on free abortions and drugs for everyone.

Yeah, sounds kinda dumb when people make rediculous statements....

I'm not sure that cartoon is accurate.

By the time those children would be old enough to inherit the debt, one of them will be dead from an avoidable disease. It's a shame they can't inherit SCHIP.

Sounds good to me.Free medical care would be cheap compared to what the Republicans have squandered. Not just on the war, but for tax breaks to the super rich.
The middle class saves a few hundred or thousand, but is hit with an enormous debt equivalent to 3 years of back taxes.
I seriously think your statement is ridiculous .(and kind of dumb)

    TRILLIONS FOR BUSH'S IRAQ WAR??

Boy-O-Boy would I like to see an itemization of that expenditure. Just wondering how much of it was spent domestically providing jobs for Americans. BTW, the ENTIRE annual US budget is only about $2.5 trillion so doesn't it seems a little high to say trillionS just for the war? :(

I really like the cartoon. I would change one thing though.

Remove "Bush's war" and replace with "our war".

While admittedly it was Bush's idea, the Democrats gave plenty of support.

That's the total cost I assume. A billion dollars here, a billion dollars there, and pretty soon you're talking about REAL money.

Easy, since the Democrats control spending and have for about half of this war (i am not sure the Democrats consider this a war on terror) they could have and still can stop spending on it any time they want to. The question is why haven't they?

I am wondering, what was the cost of the 9/11 attack on the US?

Ah, the blame game. How convenient it can feel if you want to close your eyes to reality. Everyone's a little bit to blame, and arguing the degree or timing of blame at this point is silly.

What's even more silly is the lack of effort put into ending what is clearly producing a very poor return on our investment. That should be a bipartisan effort, but everyone's too busy thinking about elections to do what's right.

It IS all about oil. It's all about who gets the money for the ever-increasing price, not about making it cheap and abundant.
