Forgive me for being facetious and piling on here (or don't, since I know I am and am posting anyway...)

...but wouldn't a minivan make a lot more sense, making it a lot easier to get to those back seats and still have a ton of safety features? (Of course, then the bling factor might suffer a bit...)

Yeah, bigger is better (for you, not for the other guy), but then, a van is almost twice as good again as an expedition!

Oh well, at least the Sienna was a close second... and the kids can't be in strollers and car seats forever, so you can always trade it in later!

Im kinda surprised to hear of so many people that own a hybrid and their spouses car turns out to be a gas guzzler.

I mean reading the past posts of people putting down the SUV's due to size and fuel consumption, only in reality they have a SUV or simaler vehicle in their garage.. :huh: Im guessing that if your driving the prius then you wear the green cap. Tuck that hybrid into the garage, and break out the SUV and leave the green cap in the other car .. Seems like some are living the double standard and it just makes their statment on SUVs hyprcritical statements..

Not to mention the Navigator starts at $47.755 to $54,000 (the price tag alone, has a bit of Smugness attached) one could buy two nicely optioned prius's for that....

One of my coworkers has a Navigator that is a couple of years old and it's no bigger than my HiHy. I was parked next to one of the older Jeep Cherokees and it's noticeably smaller than the HiHy and yet my vehicle gets about 50% better mileage (30 instead of 19). Are your kids old enough to be wearing headphones? My littlest one is not, that's why I'm thinking of the solution above.

Sounds groovy. Of course in that big space such DSP would be useful. Not sure if the Prius would benefit a whole lot from all those high-tech equalizations. One nice thing about the Prius is that it doesn't require a lot of power to nicely fill up the sound stage.

BTW, have you done a tap test or noise test to see how good the sound-deadening is on this behemoth?

I have to say I do not believe you feel any guilt in driving the Nav.....

I would have to agree with the others that suggested a mini-van, as a plausible purchase (you could get a optioned out model & still get better mileage). However mini-vans are not really cool like the Nav..

No offence, but you do seem to like the *BLING* factor. (Why else would you be called the Mod God) Thats what you like *Bling*, its your choice, its who you are and more power to you for not following the others but rather choosing your individuality.

My father leases Mercury vehicles for his business. The dealers have been offering some really good deals as sales seem to slump as gas prices start to rise. They offered a nice lease on a navigator to him but he just couldnt get past the $800 a month car payment & then there was the gas prices + 33gal tank... :blink:
He decided to go with the mountaineer and 3 HyMariners for his sales staff..


I to just purchased some more wheel estate, 1979 Firebird, paid 3k for it dropped 1k into it and turn it around to sell for 8k. Thats a 4k profit..

This is a new side line buy sought after classics & collectable vehicles fix em & a little tlc and sell them.

I still have the 72 Mustang, I just rebuilt the front end and am getting ready to put a new black top on.

So I wont be one to hold your purchase over your head, you got what you wanted.. And you've got a great job to beable to afford the vehicle & the gas.. its only money and as the wife says we cant take it with us when we die.... :mellow:

I don't think you're a bad person. I think you're the same guy who made a bad decision.

I can't help wondering about the sudden "need" for this. Was life just miserable with the Prius? Was the destruction of your Prius a silver lining that removed some sort of weight off your shoulders - freeing you to inflict this monstrosity on the world?

May we assume that you're OK with more slowly killing your kids (and mine, and everybody else's) with the extra pollution? Honestly, this is tough to see. The part about happily killing others for the sake of your own children's safety kinda has me concerned. Yes, I know I'm paraphrasing to make it more dramatic... but in the end, that's what it means. You take two Priuses and smack them together... everybody walks away with a limp. Take that purple thing and a Prius and smack them together and everybody in the Prius is dead. I don't see this as the way to a sustainable society. If we all base our important decisions on "me first," we're screwed. What do you do for the safety of your children when your neighbors all buy the one that's 12' longer and 2,000 pounds heavier than yours? Get a bigger one next time?

I'm comin' to get you, and I'm holding 200 gallons.

 

Out of curiosity, I have a couple of questions.

1. Were you at least able to "get by" in a Prius? If so, what changed?
2. Why did you buy a Prius in the first place?

I'd buy a Navigator over an Escalade any day. It's a Ford product, the Escalade is a GM product. Ford trumps GM by a long ways in my book.

I rented a Lincoln Town Car a couple years ago when my wife's in-laws flew in from Japan and we took a trip to Vancouver and Victoria, BC. I love the Town Car with all it's excess. It's super comfortable, and I feel like it's a very well made car indeed. Ford is the number one US carmaker anyway when it comes to reliability ratings.

I hope your Navigator serves you well! And hopefully you won't have to get more credit cards to fill the thing up once a week!!

No way. Either you've mistaken an Aviator for a Navigator, or you are incredibly bad at judging sizes of vehicles. A Navigator is nearly two feet longer - not an insignificant difference.
