I love the fact that the Cobalt gets almost the same mileage as the Aveo. Heck a regular Corolla/Civic gets better mileage than the Aveo. The Aveo is NOT fuel efficient (it's very close to the Mazda3/Lancer/Sentras with their 2.3 or 2.4 litre engines)

It's already been discussed that the Volt isn't coming out until 2011. GM will never catch up.

Anyone who is a regular reader of PriusChat knows that. That was not the point of my posting.

The first few sentences of the article state that Chevrolet's Green lineup includes the Volt. The inference is that it is included in the current line up. It is not until quite a few paragraphs later that the reader learns that the car is still in the development stage and that its introduction is dependent upon the availability of batteries that do not yet exist.

That is the smoke and mirrors.

And by the looks of recent Toyota announcements, neither is the plug-in Prius. Toyota just announced the start of a three year study whose aim is to determine if people really want plug-in hybrids.

Don't worry, we always have a Detroit 3 gas guzzler cheerleader inhabiting PriusChat. I'm sure that he'll step up to the mike sooner or later and go in to full malorn mode.

I seem to recall a very large group of loudmouths making it very clear that it would make much more personally fiscal sense to have purchased a Yaris than a Prius. So I think it's only fair that if someone purchases the Cobalt they should be criticized for having not purchased the Aveo.

Chevy's lineup is very similar to toyota's if you subtract the prius from Toyota's lineup. Would someone tell me if the percentage of toyota's sales in the United States which are the Prius? Is it more than half? Is it more than 20%? Is it more than 10%? Or is it less than 10%?

    Get cold under the bridge?
Oh yeah, the Prius is in the market place though so why discount it? But the Volt is another story.

Maybe you need a heater or insulation under the bridge, you need a smaller avatar.

    Never say never:
The U.S. said 'never' will the japanese car be superior to the U.S. car, once upon a time. Now? So called 'U.S. car companies' are made in Mexico and Canada, while so called asian car companies build 'em here in the good ol' U.S. of A. I'm so confused. :p
I WOULD like to see the Volt be a success ... even if it's made in Mexico. It would make Toyota come out with their own version ... only better ... and maybe - ultimately, made here in the U.S.

Well, if that's the case, then Toyota is off the table for me. I want to be driving a plug-in car in the next couple of years. Maybe I'll roll the dice on Aptera. :)

Please stop with the US cars made in Mexico and Canada and the Toyota's made in the USA. I can show you countless info that shows it is not true.

I was trying to be kind by stopping. But lets not forget malorn's favorite manufacturer ~ CHINA

    ad nausium.
perhaps he thinks that if he says it often enough, that dumb folks will believe. Then there was the EV1 ... made in the U.S.A. ... but GM has a better way now. I'd even (reluctantly) buy the EV1 if it was made overseas. They don't even have to spend years developing it, as with the Volt ... someday ... take the operational EV1's and let the subcontractors bid on production ... with a rear seat!!
    battery development my hinie ~

Did you notice how the GM article kept saying "North American" manufacturing? Mexico is in North America.
