    Hey gang,

So, after its journey half way around the world, it's here.

I feel a bit stupid now for engaging our worldwide sales and distribution system for something like this, but I did...and here it is.

I will say that it *does* seem to be a pretty nicely fabbed piece, from what (little) I can tell.
    [devilish grin]

Here are a few pics; I'll see when I can get it on the car and will let y'all know more in a bit (more being, in this case, a relative term, of course!)

    :)

Any thoughts on painting it black, or somehow dulling the shine of the 'can' part?

    Pinto Girl-
I would not paint it black- the highly polished surface means you would have to sand the finish down and a large part of the cost of that muffler was the polished exterior. Please take some good before install and after install pictures as well as your thoughts on the sound changes.
You have more guts (or money) than I- I could not bring myself to spend $600-700 for a muffler for the P-car......

Unless something has changed in the mounting of the muffler, most of it is hidden behind the rear bumper. The exhaust tip is what will give away the mod (in addition to the volume level when the ICE is running).

I will be curious about any performance improvements.

Does everything have to have a purpose? Close the art museums.
Leave it shiny. I't bling, go for it! Photographs when fitted please.
Maybe its purpose is to prove not only grumpy old men drive Prius.

tune the exhaust note of the vehicle and in some cases it'll add a few hp (anywhere from 1-5hp... 5hp for the Corolla/Matrix with the Borla exhaust.. with the Prius I think it'll be closer to 1hp lol).

    But mostly the exhaust note.

I'm serious. Of course people have different tastes. The ones we call "fart cans" are those (usually on Civics) that are obnoxiously loud and don't sound like anything other than to announce their arrival.

If you've heard a G35 coupe's exhaust, that's something I find rather tuned well by Nissan/Infiniti. And there are exhausts that can emulate that on other cars (Someone did that to their 4 cylinder Camry which sounds nicer than the stock exhaust).

Have no clue how much it costs but even if it was $1, it is 1$ too much when this:

That would be a pretty good bottle of wine.... Maybe a case of wine would last longer and be almost as good?

Personally, since the ICE is not always on, the louder (and it will be louder; you can argue all day about the 'pleasantness' of the tone, but based on a measure of decibels, it will be louder) sound could be annoying.

    I'm with you, my friend!!
    :)

In my case, I'm emotional and impulsive and passionate and, no, everything does NOT have to have a cold, hard reason for me to do it or not.

The numbers do not add up. We can not weigh the cost of the unit against any operational savings. The gain one way or another is pretty small.

It's all a waste of money. I didn't need a leather interior or the "good" stereo or even a NEW CAR for that matter. C'mon, folks, driving a Prius, in any form, in itself is NOT ENOUGH.

As far as the "$1 is too much to spend" sentiment...I'd have to know far, far more about the way in which you live your life --more than it is my business, or that I care to-- before I could not say that you're coming across as a bit disingenuous.

You're still driving a CAR. One which gets all of its energy from GASOLINE. Those solar cells on your roof were made for you, weren't they? You're still participating in a society that uses economic might to spread its cultural and political beliefs. Phluuuueeeze.

The very fact that you own a car (and a house? and what else?) seems, to me, to negate your assertion of your perfect and sustainable existence.

Have you ever taken a vacation? Flown on an airplane? Turned up the heat a notch 'cause it's chilly?

I have to say, I'm beginning to not like Prius people so much! Now I, too, see why we're not liked by some other drivers. It's really a good education. We *are* as quick to judge as even the best neoCon.

Pintogirl, I look forward to your assessment on how the exhaust sounds. Perhaps, even a video or audio recording would be nice too :).

I can't believe you added the BT plate to your car, when so much suffering is happening in the world. So, let me get this straight, the $120 for the plate is okay somehow, but the $700 for the can isn't...?

    Okaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy...

You do realize how stupid you're sounding right about now, don't you?

I'm definitely putting it on the car.

I just think its cool that Pinto-Girl has a FART CAN!

And she admitted it..

She wants the prius to sound like one of those lowrider hondas! You go Pinto!!!!

Shes stepping out of the box, I really mean it when I say you go Girl!! B)

Yeah those darn Prius people I had one last friday putzing down the road 40 iin a 45 zone, the other drivers where riding the prius bumper. LOL until they looked over at me and they just backed off like 4 car lengths  I pulled over the prius and asked them what their hurry was ... I told them I was saving them from road rage and I wanted to know what they thought of the car? they loved it the elderly male said this was the first time an officer ever stopped him to look at his car.... ;)

I gave him a card with this website written on it.. B)

I did tell hime to try and keep up with the flow of traffic at least the speed limit and just ajust his starts and cruising speeds.

If Pinto doesnt put it on the car she could make a "Fart Can Still" and make Prius Whiskey.. ;)
